Used 2023 Toyota Tacoma for Sale nearAkron, OH

How much does the 2023 Toyota Tacoma cost?

Prices have softened 2.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,117 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tacoma a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Toyota Tacoma earns a 4.3/5 user rating and a 7.3/10 expert rating, which points to broad shopper satisfaction with some clear compromises. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

Owners repeatedly praise its reliability, performance, off-road capability, strong resale value, and sturdy build. The Tacoma also fits buyers who want a truck that feels tough, familiar, and versatile, especially if you value ruggedness over polish.

The trade-offs are just as consistent: the cabin can feel tight, the technology is dated, and comfort and safety features lag some rivals. That makes it a better fit if you want a durable, adventure-ready truck than if you want the most modern everyday pickup.

Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tacoma reliable?

Owners rate it 4.3/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also emphasizes reliability, dependability, trouble-free ownership, and strong long-term confidence, while the expert summary reinforces the Tacoma’s bullet-proof reputation and sturdy build.

That durability-minded character is a major reason many buyers keep coming back to the Tacoma, and it helps support confidence in used ownership. Even so, you should still watch for wear from hard use, especially on trucks that may have seen off-road duty or heavy work.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Tacoma?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if it looks clean on the lot. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if the truck has off-road accessories, signs of towing, or uneven tire wear. Focus on overall condition, because the Tacoma’s appeal often depends on how well it has been maintained and used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from SR to SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Trail Special Edition. Base SR trims are spartan, while higher trims add more comfort and a more upscale feel.
• Powertrain: Lower trims use a 2.7-liter four-cylinder with 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque, while the available 3.5-liter V6 makes 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The V6 is the better choice if you want stronger capability.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, and automatic high beams. Blind-spot monitoring, rear- and side parking distance sensors, and a surround-view camera appear on the tested TRD Pro, while lane-keeping assist and rear automatic emergency braking are not included.
• Infotainment: Base SR trims use a 7-inch touchscreen, while higher trims get an 8-inch screen. All Tacomas include Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and SiriusXM, but the system feels outdated.
• Fuel efficiency: The four-cylinder returns 20 mpg city and 23 highway with rear-wheel drive, while the V6 gets 19 mpg city and 24 highway with rear-wheel drive. Four-wheel-drive and manual-transmission versions are less efficient.

Which 2023 Toyota Tacoma trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Tacoma is offered in 6 trim levels: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Trail Special Edition.

Here's the short version:

• SR: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the Tacoma’s core toughness at the lowest price. It’s the most basic version, so you should expect a spartan cabin and fewer comfort features.
• SR5: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without pushing you into the pricier off-road models. If you want a Tacoma that feels less bare-bones, this is the trim to start with.
• TRD Sport: Choose this if you want a more road-focused Tacoma with a sportier personality than the base trims. It’s a good middle ground if you like the Tacoma’s style but don’t need the most rugged hardware.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the better pick if you plan to spend real time on rough trails. It suits buyers who want the Tacoma’s off-road capability without going all the way to the top trim.
• TRD Pro: This is the one to buy if off-road performance is your priority and you want the most capable, most distinctive Tacoma. It adds the most serious off-road hardware and is the trim that best matches the truck’s adventurous image.
• Trail Special Edition: This is for shoppers who want a more specialized appearance and utility-focused setup. It makes sense if you want something a little different from the mainstream trims.

Toyota Safety Sense is standard, but the Tacoma does not include lane-keeping assist or rear automatic emergency braking.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Tacoma?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,117 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.34% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,349, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Tacoma's resale value?

The current average of $35,595 sits slightly below last year's $36,449.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also suggests the Tacoma is holding value reasonably well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that matters because a truck with steady demand and a strong reputation is usually easier to move when it’s time to trade in or sell privately.

The Tacoma’s strong owner satisfaction and reputation for reliability should continue to support buyer interest over time. If you keep the truck in good condition and avoid heavy wear, you’re more likely to preserve a stronger resale position.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.3/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota Tacoma safe?

The 2023 Toyota Tacoma was not awarded a Top Safety Pick award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), and it earns four-star ratings overall from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in side-impact tests and lower marks in frontal crash and rollover tests.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, lane-departure alert, and automatic high beams. On the tested TRD Pro, you also get blind-spot monitoring, rear- and side parking distance sensors, and a surround-view camera.

The main caveat is that the Tacoma lacks lane-keeping assist and rear automatic emergency braking, which makes its driver-assistance suite less comprehensive than some rivals. That matters most if you want the latest active-safety tech in a used truck.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Tacoma or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.34% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.3/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 keeps the Tacoma’s rugged, reliable formula while still offering strong off-road capability.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,634, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $35,595 average.
• It offers a smaller-truck feel with useful tech and safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $37,955, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $35,595 average.
• It brings a full redesign with a more modern foundation and standard advanced driver-assistance tech.

The bottom line: If you want the proven Tacoma formula and a broad used-market selection, the 2023 is the safest all-around pick. If price is your top priority, the 2022 can save you money; if you want the newest design and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
