How much does the 2023 Toyota RAV4 cost?

Prices are up 2.78% year-over-year — a sign of continued demand for this model year.

There are 6,912 listings available, which suggests you should have a healthy range of choices.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 a good car?

Yes — you’re looking at a 4.6/5 model with an expert rating of 7.8/10. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10. Owners consistently praise the comfortable ride, good fuel economy, and spacious interior, and they also highlight reliability and value for money. The trade-offs are that performance is fairly pedestrian and the RAV4 is not as spacious as some competitors. For you, that makes it a strong fit if you want a practical compact SUV rather than something tuned for excitement. Good and great deals account for 39.5% of listings, which is a decent sign of market availability.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.6/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The owner feedback also points to a reliable, dependable, and trouble-free ownership experience, with buyers repeatedly calling out its long-term value and confidence-inspiring day-to-day use. The expert review reinforces that impression by describing the RAV4 as dependable and practical, with ownership perks that support low-stress use. Toyota’s included no-cost maintenance for two years or 25,000 miles adds another ownership advantage. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about durability and more about finding a well-kept example that hasn’t been worn down by heavy family use.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you’re serious about, because accident-free status alone doesn’t tell you how the vehicle was maintained. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks tires, brakes, suspension, and interior wear, especially if the vehicle has been used as a daily family hauler. Focus on condition and equipment differences by trim, since the RAV4’s feature set changes meaningfully as you move up the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from the sub-$30K LE to the Limited with ventilated seats, and the Adventure and TRD Off-Road trims add a more rugged look. Base-trim shoppers should note that dual-zone climate control is not standard there, and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is only available on the LE before becoming standard starting with XLE.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s available with front-wheel drive, and all-wheel drive can be added to any trim except the Adventure and TRD Off-Road, which come standard with AWD.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the base LE and standard starting with XLE.
• Infotainment: An 8.0-inch touchscreen is standard, while Limited and TRD Off-Road get a 10.5-inch screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto come standard, and the system supports over-the-air updates.
• Fuel efficiency: The base LE gets 27 mpg city and 35 highway with FWD, while AWD drops highway mileage to 34. The Adventure trim is rated at 25 city, 33 highway, and 28 combined.

Which 2023 Toyota RAV4 trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 is offered in 6 trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• LE: This is the value-focused starting point, and it gives you the core RAV4 formula at the lowest entry price. It’s the trim to consider if you want the essentials and plan to add AWD or safety equipment selectively.
• XLE: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful everyday convenience over the LE, including standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and the broader comfort upgrades that make the RAV4 feel more complete.
• XLE Premium: This is the right step up if you want a more upscale cabin, since it upgrades to synthetic leather upholstery and moves the RAV4 closer to a more polished daily-driver feel.
• Adventure: This trim suits you if you want the more rugged styling and standard AWD, plus the more distinctive interior and exterior details that make it stand out from the mainstream trims.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the one to choose if you want the most capability-focused version in the lineup, with its own suspension tuning, all-terrain tires, and the more serious off-road hardware mentioned in the review.
• Limited: This is the top comfort-and-tech choice, with the larger touchscreen, the 12.3-inch driver display, and the most premium-feeling equipment in the range.

Safety content notes that blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the base LE and standard starting with XLE.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota RAV4?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right listing.

• Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,912 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.78% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 86.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $27,898, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota RAV4's resale value?

The current average of $29,699 sits slightly above last year's $28,895.

That upward move suggests the market still sees this model year as desirable, which can help support resale value if you decide to sell later. The year-over-year increase also points to steady buyer demand rather than a softening market. If you keep the vehicle in clean condition and maintain service records, you should be in a better position when it’s time to trade or sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.6/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Toyota RAV4 safe?

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 earns a 2023 Top Safety Pick+ award from IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard and includes Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, lane-departure warning with steering assist, automatic emergency braking, automatic high-beam LED headlights, and a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert is available on the base LE and standard starting with XLE. The safety package is strong across the lineup, though the base trim does leave some driver-assistance equipment as an option rather than standard.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota RAV4 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.78% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 4.6/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Toyota updated the infotainment system and kept the well-liked styling.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $27,092, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $29,699 average.
• It offers a roomy, flexible interior with efficient powertrains.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $30,672, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $29,699 average.
• It adds gas, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid choices across a broad trim range.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, updated tech, and strong owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the smart default. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value path; if you want the newest model-year pricing and broader drivetrain choices, look to the 2024.
