Used 2023 Toyota Crown for Sale nearPhoenix, AZ

How much does the 2023 Toyota Crown cost?

Prices have softened 1.40% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 386 listings available, which gives you a modest amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Toyota Crown a good car?

It’s a qualified yes for the right shopper: the 2023 Toyota Crown earns a 3.5/5 user rating and a 6.33/10 expert rating, which fits its role as a distinctive, comfort-focused hybrid rather than a sporty or luxury-first sedan. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 8/10.

The Crown’s appeal comes from its elevated ride height, striking design, comfortable driving character, and strong fuel efficiency. It’s aimed at buyers who want something different from a conventional sedan without giving up everyday usability.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, the cargo area is limited, and the interior materials feel cheap. If you value efficiency, comfort, and style more than speed or upscale finishes, those compromises are easier to live with.

Good and great deals account for 33.4% of listings, so there’s a meaningful share of inventory that may be worth a closer look.

Is the 2023 Toyota Crown reliable?

The 2023 Toyota Crown is presented as a comfortable, fuel-efficient hybrid with a straightforward ownership profile, and its standard hybrid setup is the main reason it stands out for everyday use. The Crown’s performance is described as adequate rather than exciting, but the powertrain is tuned for efficiency and smooth commuting.

Its standard hybrid system uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with electric motors, and Toyota estimates 42 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 41 mpg combined for the base setup. The cost-effectiveness notes also frame the standard hybrid as the economical choice over the more powerful Hybrid Max, with no major drawback for shoppers who stick with the base powertrain.

Toyota also includes over-the-air software updates, which should help keep maps and firmware current over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Crown’s appeal depends heavily on its hybrid hardware and electronics, so you’ll want a clean service history and a careful pre-purchase inspection.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Toyota Crown?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, confirm that the car’s hybrid system and driver-assistance features work as expected, and pay close attention to interior condition since the materials are described as less upscale than the price suggests. A test drive should also focus on ride quality, brake feel, and whether the electronic aids behave in a way you find comfortable.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base XLE gives you the core Crown experience, while the Limited adds more comfort and convenience, and the Platinum brings the most equipment. The base trim is the one most likely to feel light on premium touches, so compare cabin materials and feature content carefully if you’re shopping lower in the lineup.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 2.5-liter four-cylinder hybrid with 236 horsepower, while the Platinum can be equipped with the Hybrid Max powertrain that uses a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder and produces 340 horsepower. The base hybrid is the efficiency play, while the Hybrid Max is the stronger but less efficient option.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal and cross-traffic collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, and a rear-seat-passenger reminder. The Platinum adds a semi-automated parallel parking system.
• Infotainment: Every trim gets a 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates. Higher trims can add the 11-speaker JBL premium audio system, and the digital key feature is standard on the Platinum and available on the Limited.
• Fuel efficiency: Toyota estimates 42 mpg city, 41 mpg highway, and 41 mpg combined for the base hybrid, while the Hybrid Max is rated at 29 mpg city, 32 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Toyota Crown trim should I buy?

The 2023 Toyota Crown is offered in 3 trim levels: XLE, Limited, Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• XLE: This is the best-value trim if you want the Crown’s core strengths without paying for extras you may not need. You still get the standard hybrid powertrain, AWD, the 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, and the full standard safety suite.
• Limited: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale daily driver and are willing to pay for added comfort and convenience. It builds on the XLE with more equipment, and it’s the logical step up for shoppers who want a better-balanced mix of value and features.
• Platinum: This is the top choice if you want the most power and the most available tech. It can be equipped with the Hybrid Max powertrain, adds adaptive suspension, and includes the semi-automated parallel parking system; it also gets the digital key as standard.

The Platinum trim adds a semi-automated parallel parking system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Toyota Crown?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have some room to shop carefully rather than rush.

• Deal availability: 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 386 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.40% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $32,928, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Toyota Crown's resale value?

The current average of $33,815 sits slightly below last year's $34,294.

That modest decline suggests the Crown has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you as a buyer today. For a future seller, it means you should expect value retention to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and how well the car is equipped.

Because the price range is relatively tight, a clean, well-kept example should still be easier to move than one with visible wear or a rough history. If you buy smart now, you’ll be in a better position to recover value later.

Is the 2023 Toyota Crown safe?

The 2023 Toyota Crown’s crash test results from NHTSA and IIHS have not yet been published.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal and cross-traffic collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, traffic-sign recognition, and a rear-seat-passenger reminder. The Platinum trim adds a semi-automated parallel parking system.

The adaptive cruise control and lane-keep assist are described as well tuned, but the Proactive Driving Assist features can be intrusive, and some driver-attention alerts were noted as false alarms. For used buyers, that means you should test the driver-assistance behavior on your own terms before committing.

Should I buy a 2023 Toyota Crown or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 33.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.40% compared with last year.
• The 2023 Crown’s unique blend of elevated ride height, striking design, and strong fuel efficiency makes it a distinctive choice for shoppers who want comfort and everyday usability over speed or luxury excess.

The bottom line: If you want the Crown’s original formula and you’re focused on efficiency, comfort, and style, the 2023 is a sensible buy. If you’re shopping primarily on price, a later or alternative year may be worth comparing, but the 2023 still makes the most sense for buyers who value the Crown’s unique identity and can live with its modest performance and limited cargo space.
