Is the 2023 RAM 3500 a good car?

Generally — the 2023 RAM 3500 earns a 4/5 user rating, which points to strong overall satisfaction for a heavy-duty truck. The overview shows why: you get class-leading towing and payload capability, plus a cabin and feature set that feel more upscale than purely work-focused. The market also shows 31.0% of listings as good or great deals, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 RAM 3500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview emphasizes a truck built around capability, comfort, and modern equipment, with a stronger frame, new suspension, and a new transmission for the Hemi models. It also highlights useful tech and a refined cabin, which can help the truck feel easier to live with over time. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a heavy-duty truck’s complexity and size can make condition and maintenance history especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 RAM 3500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then focus on a thorough pre-purchase inspection so you can confirm the truck’s condition matches its advertised use. Pay close attention to signs of hard towing, heavy payload use, and any wear that could come from the truck’s size and work-truck life. If you’re considering a diesel example, make sure the maintenance record is complete and the truck drives cleanly under load.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 RAM 3500?

This is a moderate market, so you can be selective without expecting a deep buyer’s market.

• Deal availability: 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,289 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.69% compared with last year.

If you find a listing below $54,545, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 RAM 3500's resale value?

The current average of $54,723 sits slightly below last year's $56,819.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable level, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays steady. For a seller, the current trend suggests you should expect value to depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market appreciation. Well-kept trucks with desirable configurations should still draw attention, especially when inventory remains healthy.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 RAM 3500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.69% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: The 2023 is a strong choice if you want the refreshed tech and capability package in a heavy-duty truck that still feels upscale inside. If your priority is stretching your budget, a nearby model year may offer a lower entry price, but the 2023 gives you a compelling mix of inventory, deal availability, and owner satisfaction.
