How much does the 2023 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 4.21% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,773 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 RAM 1500 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise the upscale interior, comfortable ride, and solid performance. The review summary also points to stylish design and good fuel economy for its size, which helps reinforce its broad appeal.

The main trade-offs are that some drivers mention a small back seat and minor issues with specific features, while the expert review notes that the truck is not a major redesign and that rivals offer more technology. In practical terms, this is a strong fit if you want a polished full-size pickup for everyday use and comfort matters more to you than having the newest tech.

The market also looks reasonably open, with 35.7% of listings marked as good or great deals.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner summary points to a truck that feels upscale, comfortable, and solid in daily use, and it also highlights good fuel economy for its size. The expert review adds that the powertrain is strong and the truck’s overall driving character is smooth and composed, which supports the impression that it’s built to be easy to live with over time.

The available powertrain warranty coverage also helps support confidence in ownership. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a truck with this much equipment can become more expensive to maintain if prior care was inconsistent.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not guaranteed. A pre-purchase inspection is especially important on a truck like this, since comfort, electronics, and feature content can vary a lot by trim. Focus on condition, equipment operation, and whether the truck has the features you actually want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited and TRX. Lower trims use a small 5-inch infotainment screen, while mid trims typically get an 8.4-inch touchscreen; the Limited brings a more upscale cabin with leather, open-pore wood, and a 12-inch portrait-oriented screen.
• Powertrain: You can get a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with eTorque, or a 3.0-liter diesel, while the TRX uses a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. The eTorque system adds extra low-speed torque and smoother stop/start behavior, and the diesel is the efficiency play.
• Safety package: Advanced driver aids are not standard, and even automatic emergency braking is not included across the board. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional or bundled, and blind-spot monitoring can be configured to cover a trailer.
• Infotainment: Lower trims start with a 5-inch screen, mid trims commonly use an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and upper trims can get a 12-inch portrait-oriented display. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and available tech can add a head-up display, digital rearview mirror, surround-view camera system, wireless charging, and multiple USB-A and USB-C ports.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA rates V8 4WD eTorque models at 17 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined. The 3.0-liter turbo diesel returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2023 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 RAM 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited and TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the least expensive path into the lineup, but it’s also the most basic. It makes sense if you want a work-focused truck and plan to keep equipment expectations modest.
• Tradesman HFE: This trim is aimed at efficiency-minded buyers who want a lower-cost Ram with a stronger focus on fuel economy than the standard work-truck setup.
• Big Horn/Lone Star: This is the value-oriented sweet spot for many shoppers because it moves you beyond the bare-bones setup without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• Laramie: This is the better choice if you want a more polished cabin and more of the upscale feel that defines the Ram 1500.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged personality and the off-road-oriented hardware that separates it from the comfort-first trims.
• Limited Longhorn: This trim leans into premium materials and a more upscale presentation, making it a strong fit if cabin quality matters most.
• Limited: This is the best-value premium pick if you want the richest interior, the 12-inch portrait screen, and available tech like the head-up display and surround-view camera system.
• TRX: This is the extreme performance choice, with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and serious off-road hardware.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so you should pay close attention to which driver-assistance items are included on the specific truck you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 RAM 1500?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,773 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.21% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,558, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $35,719 sits slightly below last year's $37,291.

That price movement suggests the truck has softened enough to create a better entry point for used buyers, but it also means future sellers may not see the same pricing strength they would have a year ago. If you buy at the right number now, you may have a better chance of limiting depreciation pressure later.

The Ram’s broad appeal helps support demand, especially because shoppers still value its comfort, upscale cabin, and strong powertrain. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2023 Ram 1500 crew cab earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, and the IIHS gives it Good marks across the board except for Marginal grades for seat belt reminders and LATCH ease of use.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The safety picture is mixed because advanced driver-assist systems are not standard. Automatic emergency braking is not standard across the lineup, and blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are either optional or bundled into packages. If you tow, the available blind-spot monitoring that can account for a trailer is especially useful.

The main caveat is that some IIHS results are weaker than the rest of the truck’s safety performance, and the lack of standard driver aids means you need to check equipment carefully on any used example.

Should I buy a 2023 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.21% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model adds an available reconfigurable 12-inch gauge cluster and keeps the Ram’s smooth, upscale driving character.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,487, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $35,719 average.
• It blends design, comfort, utility, technology, and driving character in a well-rounded way.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of inventory, price trend, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Ram’s core comfort and polish.
