How much does the 2023 RAM 1500 cost?

There are 9,731 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.65/5, and the expert rating is 7.17/10. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise the upscale interior, comfortable ride, and solid performance. The review summary also points to stylish design and good fuel economy for a truck of this size.

The trade-offs are a small back seat and some minor feature-related issues, while the expert notes that advanced safety features are not standard and rivals offer more technology. For you, that means the 2023 RAM 1500 makes the most sense if you want a polished full-size pickup rather than the newest tech-heavy one.

Good and great deals account for 36.7% of listings, so there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 reliable?

The owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, with praise for its solid performance and comfortable, trouble-free day-to-day character. The expert notes that the powertrain is smooth and well matched to the transmission, which supports confidence in regular use.

The gas engine also comes with a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty, which adds some peace of mind for used buyers. For you, the main long-term ownership risk is that a higher-mileage truck may need more careful inspection because advanced safety and tech content varies widely by trim.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the truck’s condition, especially if you are considering a higher-trim or heavily equipped example. Pay close attention to how the cabin, electronics, and towing-related equipment have been used.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup ranges from Tradesman through TRX, and the base trims are much simpler than upper trims. Lower trims use a small 5-inch infotainment screen, while mid trims move to an 8.4-inch touchscreen and upper trims can get a 12-inch portrait-oriented display; the Limited also brings a more upscale cabin with leather, open-pore wood, and a premium look.
• Powertrain: You can choose rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, with a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque standard on lower trims, a 5.7-liter Hemi V8 with eTorque optional on lower trims and standard on upper trims, and a 3.0-liter diesel available on most trims. The V8 is strong off the line, and the eTorque system adds short bursts of extra torque and smoother stop/start behavior.
• Safety package: The truck does not make advanced driver aids standard, and even automatic emergency braking is not standard across the board. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are optional or bundled, and blind-spot monitoring can be configured to cover a trailer.
• Infotainment: Lower trims get a 5-inch screen, mid trims typically get an 8.4-inch touchscreen, and upper trims can have a 12-inch portrait-oriented infotainment screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and the available 12-inch setup can run two functions at once.
• Fuel efficiency: The V8 4WD eTorque setup is rated at 17 mpg city, 22 mpg highway, and 19 mpg combined, while the diesel returns 21 mpg city, 29 mpg highway, and 24 mpg combined.

Which 2023 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2023 RAM 1500 is offered in 8 trim levels: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited and TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the least expensive path into the lineup, but it is also the most basic. It makes sense if you want the lowest entry price and do not need the richer cabin materials or larger screens found higher up.
• Big Horn/Lone Star: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it moves you beyond the bare-bones setup without jumping all the way to luxury pricing. It is a smart middle ground if you want a more complete truck without paying for the top-end cabin.
• Laramie: This trim is the better choice if you want a more upscale feel and more of the comfort and tech that make the Ram stand out. It suits you if you care about refinement as much as utility.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged personality and the off-road-oriented character that the lineup explicitly reserves for this trim and the TRX. It is the right fit if you want a truck with a tougher stance and more adventurous intent.
• Limited Longhorn: This trim leans into premium materials and a more upscale presentation. It is a good fit if you want luxury touches without going all the way to the top.
• Limited: This is the most polished mainstream choice, with leather, open-pore wood, and the available 12-inch portrait screen making it feel especially upscale. It is the best fit if comfort and cabin quality are your priorities.
• TRX: This is the extreme performance and off-road model, with a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 and specialized hardware. It is for you if you want the most powerful and most aggressive version of the truck.

Advanced safety features are not standard, so check the equipment list carefully on any trim you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market, so you can shop selectively without expecting a deep bargain on every listing.

• Deal availability: 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,731 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.64% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $35,562, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $36,113 sits slightly below last year's $37,478.

That decline suggests the truck has softened a bit in the used market, which can help you as a buyer today but may temper resale upside if you sell soon. If you buy at the right price and keep the truck in strong condition, you can reduce the impact of that depreciation. Higher-trim trucks with desirable equipment may hold attention better than stripped-down examples.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.65/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2023 Ram 1500 crew cab earns five-star ratings from NHTSA, and IIHS gives it Good marks across the board except for Marginal grades for seat belt reminders and LATCH ease of use.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The Ram 1500 falters a bit on standard advanced driver-assist systems. Nothing is standard across the board, not even automatic emergency braking. Blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, and lane departure warning are all optional or part of a package.

If you add blind-spot monitoring, it can cover the length of a trailer, which is especially useful if you tow in traffic. The IIHS Marginal results for seat belt reminders and LATCH ease of use are worth noting if you regularly carry passengers or install child seats.

Should I buy a 2023 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.64% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.65/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 adds a new available reconfigurable 12-inch gauge cluster.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $32,850, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $36,113 average.
• It blends comfort, utility, and driving character in a well-rounded way.

The bottom line: If you want the better current-market balance of price, inventory, and updated tech, the 2023 is the cleaner choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the more budget-friendly path and still delivers the Ram’s core comfort and refinement.
