How much does the 2019 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 9.75% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,757 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for comparison shopping.

Is the 2019 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2019 RAM 1500 earns a 4.73/5 user rating and an 8.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Performance and Form and function.

Owners consistently praise the smooth ride, powerful engine, and spacious, well-appointed interior. That lines up with the truck’s comfort-first character and its upscale feel for a full-size pickup. It also fits buyers who want a truck that can handle commuting as well as weekend work.

The main trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard and build quality could be better. Even so, the truck’s strong mix of comfort, capability, and everyday livability helps it stand out.

Only 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so the market still rewards careful shopping.

Is the 2019 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.73/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels smooth, powerful, and generally dependable enough to count on for daily use. The expert review also emphasizes how composed and effortless it feels in everyday driving, with a smooth ride over bumpy roads and responsive steering and handling. Ram’s attention to detail and comfortable, versatile interior further support the sense that this is built for long-term use.

The main ownership risk for used buyers is that some examples may have seen harder use, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2019 RAM 1500?

At 69% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.

You should start with a vehicle history report and then prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-mileage truck or one with visible wear. Focus on signs of prior body damage, uneven panel gaps, tire wear, suspension condition, and evidence that the truck was used for towing or heavy work. If you want the best ownership experience, pay close attention to how the cabin, electronics, and ride quality have held up.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Tradesman is the work-truck choice with heavy-duty shock absorbers, a five-link coil-spring rear suspension, a 5-inch touchscreen, Bluetooth hands-free calling, and two front USB ports. Big Horn adds chrome accents, 18-inch cast-aluminum wheels, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a manual rear window, fog lights, and steering-wheel-mounted radio controls. Rebel adds a more aggressive grille, fender flares, an electronically locking differential, upgraded shock absorbers, dark accents, a sport performance hood, and skid plates. Laramie adds power side mirrors with integrated turn signals, upgraded LED taillights, a 7-inch TFT instrument panel, remote keyless entry, LED ambient lighting, driver’s seat memory, an auto-dimming rear-view mirror, and leather seating with heated front seats. Longhorn adds a spray-in bedliner, chrome exterior details, chrome side steps, a power-release tailgate, 20-inch wheels, wood interior inserts, a full center console with sliding middle tray, and premium interior door trim panels. Limited adds 20-inch two-tone wheels, the Active-Level four-corner air suspension, power-extending running boards, upgraded wood accents, premium leather front bucket seats, and heated/ventilated front and rear seats.

• Powertrain: The base engine is a 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque mild-hybrid integration, and the available 5.7-liter Hemi V8 also offers eTorque. Both engines pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission and rear-wheel drive or available 4WD. The V8 is the stronger choice if you want serious towing and effortless acceleration.

• Safety package: Standard equipment includes a full array of airbags, an electronic parking brake, integrated trailer-sway control, trailer braking control, traction control, hill-start assist, and a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection is standard on the Limited and optional on all but the Tradesman trim. Other available driver aids include forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, dynamic cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors.

• Infotainment: The truck offers a 12-inch portrait touchscreen on higher trims, while some versions use an 8.4-inch screen. All screens run Uconnect in its fourth generation, and the system includes customizable layouts, dock-style shortcuts, and physical buttons for frequently used controls.

• Fuel efficiency: The conventional V8 with 4WD returns 15 mpg city, 21 highway, and 17 combined. Rear-wheel drive improves highway economy to 22 mpg.

Which 2019 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2019 RAM 1500 is offered in 6 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Longhorn, Limited.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the value-focused work truck, and it makes sense if you want the lowest-cost entry point with useful standard equipment. You get the basics done well, but you give up the more upscale cabin and convenience features found higher up the range.

• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more polished look and useful comfort upgrades without jumping into luxury pricing. The added chrome, leather-wrapped steering wheel, fog lights, and available option packages make it a smart middle ground.

• Rebel: Choose this if you want the most rugged-looking version, with added off-road-oriented hardware and a more aggressive appearance. The locking differential, skid plates, and upgraded shocks give it a distinct personality.

• Laramie: This is the comfort sweet spot if you want a more upscale cabin and stronger everyday convenience features. It adds leather seating, heated front seats, memory settings, and a richer tech presentation.

• Longhorn: This trim is for you if you want a more premium truck with extra exterior chrome, wood trim, a spray-in bedliner, and a power-release tailgate. It leans heavily into comfort and style.

• Limited: This is the luxury pick, with the most upscale materials and the most advanced comfort features. If you want the most refined version, this is the one to target.

Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection is standard on the Limited and optional on all but the Tradesman trim.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2019 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,757 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.75% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 69.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,979, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2019 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $23,979 sits slightly below last year's $26,570.

That decline suggests the truck has become more affordable for buyers, which can help keep demand healthy in the near term. For a future seller, that means you may face a softer pricing environment than owners did a year ago. Still, the truck’s broad appeal and comfort-focused reputation should help support interest when it’s time to sell.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.73/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2019 RAM 1500 safe?

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include a full array of airbags, an electronic parking brake, integrated trailer-sway control, trailer braking control, traction control, hill-start assist, and a reversing camera with dynamic guidelines. Blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-path detection is standard on the Limited and optional on all but the Tradesman trim, while forward-collision mitigation, lane-departure warning, dynamic cruise control, and front and rear parking sensors are also available.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you’ll want to check equipment carefully if driver assistance matters to you.

Should I buy a 2019 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2019 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2019 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• At 69% accident-free, a meaningful share of listings has prior incidents — history verification is especially important.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 9.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2019 brings a full redesign that pushes the Ram 1500 further toward comfort and refinement.

Consider the 2020 if:

• At $27,638, the 2020 costs more than the current year's $23,979 average.
• The EcoDiesel returns and is available across the trim range.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2019 is the stronger buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and broad market availability. If you’re specifically shopping for diesel power, the 2020 is the better path, but you’ll pay more for it.
