Is the 2023 Nissan LEAF reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview presents the LEAF as a practical, value-focused EV with a straightforward feature set and a long history of making electric ownership approachable. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that older LEAFs are known for limited range and dated charging tech, so condition and battery health matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Nissan LEAF?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings. Focus on overall condition, charging equipment, and how the car has been used, since EV ownership depends heavily on battery and charging health. If possible, verify that the car’s features and equipment match the listing and that everything works as expected.

That softer pricing suggests the LEAF is currently in a buyer-favorable position, which can make future resale planning more important if you expect to sell later. The model’s practical reputation and straightforward ownership story can help support demand, especially among shoppers looking for an affordable EV.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Nissan LEAF or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 47.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.58% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, inventory choice, and owner satisfaction, the 2023 is the primary year to target. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can also compare nearby years to see whether a lower asking price outweighs the 2023’s favorable market conditions and strong satisfaction signal.
