It stands out for its sporty character in a three-row SUV package, with standard all-wheel drive, an eight-speed automatic transmission, Mazda Intelligent Drive Select with Sport and Off-Road modes, and Kinematic Posture Control. Is the 2023 Mazda CX-9 reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Mazda CX-9 is described as a polished, distinctive crossover with premium-feeling materials and a clear identity, which can be encouraging if you value a well-executed cabin and cohesive driving experience. Its sporty setup and standard all-wheel drive also suggest a vehicle built to feel composed in everyday use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the specific vehicle has been maintained well, since condition matters more when you’re shopping a model with a firmer ride and more complex features.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Mazda CX-9?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the history report to confirm the car’s background and look for any prior damage or title issues. Then prioritize a thorough inspection of the ride quality, cabin condition, and technology operation, since those are the areas where this model’s character and compromises are most likely to show up. Focus on how the vehicle feels on the road and whether its premium touches still present well, because condition will shape both your ownership experience and future resale appeal.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Mazda CX-9?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay disciplined.

• Deal availability: 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 421 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.72% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 75.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,745, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Mazda CX-9's resale value?

The current average of $26,745 sits slightly below last year's $28,070.

That price movement suggests the market has eased, which can help you buy more confidently now but may also temper near-term resale upside if you plan to sell soon. For future sellers, a softer market means condition, mileage, and documentation matter even more when it comes time to list. Well-kept examples should still attract attention because shoppers often respond to a model with a clear identity and strong owner satisfaction.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Mazda CX-9 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 31.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 75.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.72% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $24,084, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $26,745 average.
• It blends style and comfort with a more upscale feel.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the newer model year with a strong satisfaction signal and a market that still offers some deal opportunities. If your priority is saving money upfront, the 2022 is the better value path, especially if you find one in excellent condition.
