Is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport a good car?

Yes — with a 5/5 user rating and a 6.83/10 expert rating, you’re looking at a model that lands well for shoppers who value style and capability. The standout strength is Look and feel at 9/10.

The 2023 Range Rover Sport is designed as the sportier alternative to a standard Range Rover, and its redesign makes that difference visible and felt inside the cabin. It stands out with stylish design and a powerful engine, and its off-road ability remains a major strength. For you, that means it makes the most sense if you want a distinctive luxury SUV with real all-terrain credibility.

The trade-offs are clear: handling is underwhelming, the back seat is cramped, and the technology can be frustrating. Even so, buyers who prioritize image and off-road capability over sharp pavement manners may still find it appealing.

36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals, so there’s a meaningful share of inventory worth a closer look.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Range Rover Sport is built around a strong capability story, with a refined cabin, serious off-road hardware, and a powertrain lineup that includes a turbocharged inline-six and an available plug-in hybrid. The expert evaluation also points to a vehicle that feels composed in everyday driving and especially capable away from pavement.

The performance notes emphasize that the SUV can accelerate briskly, tow heavily, and handle rough terrain with confidence. The cost-effectiveness notes also point out that the plug-in hybrid can save money on gas if you keep it charged, and that Land Rover may improve usability through over-the-air updates.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that this is still a complex luxury SUV, so ownership can become expensive if you’re not buying carefully and maintaining it consistently.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with advanced electronics and off-road hardware. Focus on how the cabin tech, suspension, and driver-assistance systems operate in real-world use, and pay close attention to signs of wear that could point to harder use or deferred maintenance.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes SE P360, SE Dynamic P400, and Autobiography P440e. The SE Dynamic P400 adds more power and a richer equipment mix than the SE P360, while the Autobiography P440e brings the plug-in hybrid setup and the most advanced powertrain in the group. The base trim is the one most likely to feel light on extras compared with the higher trims.
• Powertrain: You get a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with mild-hybrid technology in the SE and SE Dynamic, plus a plug-in hybrid drivetrain in the Autobiography P440e. The inline-six is rated at 355 hp in the SE P360 and 395 hp in the SE Dynamic P400, while the PHEV delivers 434 hp and an estimated 51 miles of electric driving range.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, a surround-view camera system, and ClearSight Ground View. Wade Sensing is standard, too. Remote Park Assist is available.
• Infotainment: Every model has a 13.7-inch digital instrument display and a 13.1-inch touchscreen with haptic feedback. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with Amazon Alexa compatibility, SiriusXM satellite radio, and connected services. Wi-Fi access requires an extra-cost data plan.
• Fuel efficiency: The P400 drivetrain is rated at 21 mpg in combined driving, and the plug-in hybrid is estimated to deliver 51 miles of electric driving range.

Which 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport trim should I buy?

The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport is offered in 3 trim levels: SE P360, SE Dynamic P400, and Autobiography P440e.

Here's the short version:

• SE P360: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Range Rover Sport look and core luxury-SUV experience without the extra power and equipment of the higher trims. It makes sense if you want the nameplate and can live with the least robust version of the lineup.
• SE Dynamic P400: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the stronger 395-hp version of the inline-six and a more complete equipment mix. If you want the sweet spot between performance and price, this is the one to target.
• Autobiography P440e: Choose this if you want the plug-in hybrid drivetrain and the most advanced powertrain in the range. It’s the right pick if you can charge regularly and want the electric-driving benefit.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, with standard driver-assistance features including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, and a surround-view camera system.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without expecting every listing to be a bargain.

• Deal availability: 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,215 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.78% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 91.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $62,667, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport's resale value?

The current average of $62,667 sits slightly below last year's $71,849.

That drop suggests the market has already moved lower, which can help you as a buyer today but may also limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is currently priced below where it was a year ago, so holding value depends heavily on condition, mileage, and trim.

Because the Range Rover Sport has strong appeal for buyers who want style and off-road ability, well-kept examples should still attract attention. But if you buy at the wrong price, the softer market can work against you later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport safe?

The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport earns a Good rating from IIHS.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Land Rover installs a long list of driver-assistance features, including forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, automatic high-beam headlights, a driver monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera system with ClearSight Ground View. Wade Sensing is standard, too, and Remote Park Assist is available.

The main caveat is that the adaptive cruise control with steering assist was not especially smooth or trustworthy in testing, and the steering assist could be frustrating on curving roads. That means you should treat the safety tech as helpful support, not something you’ll want to rely on blindly.

Should I buy a 2023 Land Rover Range Rover Sport or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.1% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.3% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.78% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its stylish design, powerful engine, and excellent off-road capability.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of current pricing, broad inventory, and the model year’s distinctive styling and capability, the 2023 is the one to focus on. If you’re especially price-sensitive, you can shop aggressively within this year’s softer market and target the lower end of the range, but you should still prioritize condition and equipment over chasing the cheapest example.
