How much does the 2023 Kia Sportage cost?

There are 4,886 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Sportage earns a 4.67/5 user rating and a 7.17/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its great value, spacious interior, and modern styling, and they also like the impressive features for the price. The Sportage’s distinctive design and roomy packaging line up well with shoppers who want something a little different from the usual compact crossover choices. On the downside, the expert review notes fairly pedestrian performance, and the cabin’s appeal is strongest when you value style and tech over quick acceleration.

With a spacious, practical cabin and strong everyday usability, it fits best if you want a feature-rich compact crossover rather than a sporty one. Good and great deals account for 36.7% of listings, which gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in daily use, with many shoppers appreciating the value, features, and overall ownership experience. The expert review also emphasizes Kia’s 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty, which adds confidence for long-term ownership. The review’s performance notes also suggest the gas Sportage is built for steady, everyday use rather than high-strung driving.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about choosing a well-kept example that hasn’t been neglected or abused.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for wear, prior repairs, and any signs that the vehicle’s tech or safety equipment hasn’t been working properly. Focus on overall condition, because the Sportage’s appeal depends heavily on its cabin presentation, feature content, and how well the equipment has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX gets cloth seats and an 8-inch infotainment screen, while EX-and-up models get the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and a more upscale feel. The cabin also gains a leather-wrapped steering wheel on EX and above, and a leather-wrapped shift knob on SX and above.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It’s available with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the review notes that the engine is not especially quick.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, rear backup sensors, and a backup camera. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while adaptive cruise control starts at SX.
• Infotainment: The LX gets an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. EX-and-up models get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, and SX-and-up adds a panoramic, curved 12.3-inch driver information display. Wireless charging, rear USB-C ports, navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and HD Radio are standard above LX.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 25 mpg city and 32 highway with front-wheel drive, or 23/28/25 with all-wheel drive.

Which 2023 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Sportage is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it still gives you wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, plus the standard safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned Sportage, though the smaller 8-inch screen and cloth seats keep it clearly base-level.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it unlocks the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, wireless charging, rear USB-C ports, navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, HD Radio, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning. It also keeps pricing relatively approachable compared with the upper trims.
• SX: This trim adds the panoramic, curved 12.3-inch driver information display, leather-wrapped shift knob, adaptive cruise control, and the Harman Kardon stereo. It’s the right pick if you want a more premium tech experience.
• SX Prestige: This is the more upscale version of the SX, and it’s the trim that helps the Sportage feel most premium. It also brings the brand’s more advanced safety tech, including blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.
• X-Line: This trim adds rugged visual cues such as 19-inch alloy wheels, gloss- and matte-black exterior trim, and a gloss-black roof rack. It’s mainly for shoppers who want the look rather than extra off-road capability.
• X-Pro: This is the one to choose if you want genuine off-road-oriented hardware, including BF Goodrich all-terrain tires, smaller 17-inch wheels, and AT-tire-tuned drive modes.
• X-Pro Prestige: This combines the X-Pro’s off-road focus with the more premium equipment and advanced safety features found higher up the range.

The more expensive SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige trims are the only ones with blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.

What is the 2023 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $23,462 sits slightly below last year's $24,935.

That softer pricing suggests the Sportage has become more accessible for used buyers, which can help future sellers if demand stays steady. A lower entry price today may also make the model easier to move later, especially if you keep mileage and condition in check. The Sportage’s strong feature content and broad appeal should help support interest over time, even if the market remains price-sensitive.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.91% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• Kia’s redesigned cabin and strong tech make this year feel especially modern.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,623, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,462 average.
• It offers a stylish, well-equipped feel with available turbo power.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the redesigned Sportage’s stronger tech, roomier feel, and broader appeal. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play, especially if you can find one in good condition with the equipment you want.
