Used 2023 Kia Sportage for Sale nearGrand Rapids, MI

How much does the 2023 Kia Sportage cost?

Prices have softened 6.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,870 listings available, which gives you a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Kia Sportage earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.2/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its great value, spacious interior, and impressive features, and they also like the modern styling. The expert review backs that up with strong marks for design and tech, while noting that the cabin feels roomy and well equipped for everyday use. The main trade-off is that performance is fairly pedestrian, so you may want something more energetic if driving feel matters most. For shoppers who want a distinctive compact crossover with a practical layout and lots of equipment, it fits that brief well.

Good and great deals account for 36.3% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on value, features, and the kind of everyday usability that helps a vehicle feel easy to count on. The expert review also frames it as a feature-rich car with Kia’s long warranty coverage supporting the ownership experience. Kia’s 10-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile limited warranty add another layer of reassurance for long-term ownership.

For used buyers, the main risk is less about a known reliability red flag and more about choosing a well-kept example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are strong but not universal. Prioritize a close inspection of the cabin tech, backup camera placement, and moonroof operation if equipped, since those are the kinds of details owners mention. It also makes sense to focus on trim content, because the Sportage’s equipment spread changes meaningfully as you move up the lineup.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX gets cloth seats and an 8-inch infotainment screen, while EX-and-up models get the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen and dual-zone full automatic climate control above LX. The cabin also gains a leather-wrapped steering wheel on EX and above, and a leather-wrapped shift knob on SX and above.
• Powertrain: The gas model uses a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine with 187 horsepower and 178 pound-feet of torque, paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. It is offered with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and the review notes that the engine is not especially quick.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, rear backup sensors, and a backup camera. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while SX is the first trim to get adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: EX-and-up models get a 12.3-inch touchscreen, while the base LX uses an 8-inch screen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wireless charging, rear USB-C ports, navigation, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and HD Radio are standard above LX.
• Fuel efficiency: The gas model is rated at 25 mpg city and 32 highway with front-wheel drive, or 23/28/25 with all-wheel drive.

Which 2023 Kia Sportage trim should I buy?

The 2023 Kia Sportage is offered in 7 trim levels: LX, EX, SX, SX Prestige, X-Line, X-Pro, and X-Pro Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, but it is also the least compelling if you want the Sportage’s best tech and comfort. It gets the smaller 8-inch screen and cloth seats, so it makes sense mainly if you are shopping strictly on price.
• EX: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it unlocks the larger 12.3-inch touchscreen, dual-zone climate control, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning while staying relatively affordable.
• SX: This trim adds more premium tech and is the first to get adaptive cruise control, making it a strong choice if you want a more upscale daily driver.
• SX Prestige: This is the better pick if you want the most premium-feeling gas Sportage, especially because it adds the brand’s more advanced safety tech and richer equipment.
• X-Line: This trim focuses on rugged styling cues, but it does not add off-road hardware, so it is best if you want the look rather than extra capability.
• X-Pro: This is the one to choose if you want genuine off-road-oriented equipment, including all-terrain tires and drive modes tuned for those tires.
• X-Pro Prestige: This is the most fully equipped rugged trim, combining the X-Pro hardware with the higher-end safety and convenience content.

The more expensive SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige trims are the only ones with blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Kia Sportage?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you have room to shop carefully without rushing.

• Deal availability: 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,870 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,178, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Kia Sportage's resale value?

The current average of $23,178 sits slightly below last year's $24,758.

That softer pricing suggests the Sportage has become more approachable for used buyers, which can help future sellers by keeping the model competitive in its segment. If you buy well and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you may be better positioned when it is time to resell. The current market also shows enough demand and inventory movement to support steady interest from shoppers.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Kia Sportage safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

The 2023 Kia Sportage offers automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, lane-following assist, lane-departure warning, and rear backup sensors as standard equipment. EX adds blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and safe exit warning, while SX is the first trim to get adaptive cruise control. The more expensive SX Prestige and X-Pro Prestige trims are the only ones with blind-view monitor and Highway driving assist, so some of the best safety tech is reserved for the top end of the lineup.

Should I buy a 2023 Kia Sportage or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 stands out for its redesigned styling, roomy cabin, and strong tech appeal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $17,305, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $23,178 average.
• It is a polished, well-equipped compact SUV with available turbo power and a strong feature set.

The bottom line: Choose the 2023 if you want the newer design, stronger tech story, and a broader spread of trims. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play and still brings a lot of the Sportage’s core appeal.
