By this point in the Sorento’s fourth generation, the model had grown into a three-row SUV with enough room to comfortably accommodate adults, while also adopting a more aggressive, sporty design and a more luxurious cabin treatment with wood-grained trim and quilted leather upholstery. It also offered a comprehensive suite of safety features, which helps explain why it appeals to shoppers looking for a practical family vehicle with a more upscale feel.
For 2023, Kia added the blind-spot monitor and rear automatic braking to the base LX model, along with a few minor feature shuffles between trim levels. That makes the entry point more appealing without changing the Sorento’s basic formula. The lineup also remained notable for its variety, including a standard 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine on the LX and S trims, a 281-horsepower turbocharged upgrade on the EX and SX trims, and a hybrid option with a combined 227 horsepower. Fuel economy was a strong point for the hybrid, which was EPA-estimated at 39/35 mpg city/highway, while the base four-cylinder returned 24/29 mpg city/highway and the turbo option was rated at 22/29 mpg city/highway.
The 2023 Sorento is also attractive because it balances everyday usability with available capability. Standard features on the base LX included a smart key with push-button start and smart cruise control, while higher trims could add items such as second-row captain’s chairs, a blind-spot monitor, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, rear automatic braking, and a surround-view monitor. Let me start by saying the 2023 Kia Sorento is a nice vehicle. It drives well, looks great, and has solid features. That's not the issue. The issue is the front grill design. Kia left the radiator completely exposed behind the grill with no protective barrier. Over time, dust, debris, and rocks collect and pass right through, causing serious damage to the radiator. Based on my experience and the experiences of hundreds of other owners, you will likely need to replace your entire radiator within the first three years of ownership. I've filed formal complaints with the Federal Trade Commission, the Better Business Bureau, the Michigan Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division, and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Why? Because neither the dealership nor Kia America will cover this repair. It is not covered under warranty. You will be expected to pay out of pocket in my case, $1,350 for damage caused by their faulty design. The "solution" owners are left with? Going on Amazon and purchasing a metal mesh grill guard to install yourself, just to protect a part that should have been protected from the factory. A consumer should not have to modify a brand-new vehicle to prevent a critical component from being destroyed under normal driving conditions. If the grill had been designed properly in the first place, none of this would be necessary. Don't just take my word for it. Search Reddit, Google, the Kia Forums, and the NHTSA complaint database. You'll find hundreds of Sorento owners reporting the exact same problem rock damage to the radiator because of this open grill design. If you're a current owner dealing with this, I urge you to file complaints. Report it to NHTSA, the FTC, the BBB, and your state attorney general's consumer division. The more complaints on record, the harder it becomes for Kia to ignore this, and the closer we get to holding them accountable , whether that means reimbursement for owners or a full recall. Our voices matter, but only if we use them. To anyone considering this vehicle: I'd still say it's a good car just know what you're getting into with that front end, and budget for a radiator replacement Kia won't tell you about.

This is car is fully loaded. It drives very nice and the visibility from the interior is great. I’ve only had it less than a week but I am in love with the Sorento sonfar. Definitely the nicest car I’ve ever had.
