How much does the 2023 Jeep Wrangler cost?

Prices have softened 5.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 7,516 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Jeep Wrangler earns a 5/5 from owners and a 7.83/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability and fun driving experience, and many also appreciate the Wrangler’s rugged character and multiple powertrain choices. The trade-offs are familiar: some owners mention high-speed handling concerns and pricing concerns, along with missing comfort features such as seat warmers.

That lines up with the Wrangler’s purpose-first setup, which is aimed at buyers who care more about adventure and open-air versatility than everyday polish. With 41.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have a decent chance of finding a strong-value example.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a vehicle that feels dependable in the ways Wrangler shoppers care about most, especially when it comes to off-road use and day-to-day enjoyment. The expert review also emphasizes the Wrangler’s durable, body-on-frame construction and its solid front and rear axles, which support its long-term toughness.

The ownership risk for used buyers is less about basic durability and more about choosing a well-kept example that matches your needs and expectations.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Jeep Wrangler?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a Wrangler’s off-road life can include hard use that doesn’t always show up in photos. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on suspension, steering, brakes, and signs of trail damage or poor repairs. It also helps to compare trim equipment closely, since some versions are much better equipped for trail use than others.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Wrangler’s rugged design includes removable doors, a fold-down windshield, and multiple top options, but some trims are more stripped down than others. The expert review notes that popular trims like the Sport, High Altitude, Willys Sport, and Sahara do not get locking differentials or meaty tires, so base and lower trims can leave you wanting more trail hardware.
• Powertrain: You can choose from a 285-horsepower V6, a 270-horsepower turbocharged four-cylinder, a 260-horsepower diesel V6, a 470-horsepower V8, or the 4xe plug-in hybrid with two electric motors and a 17.3 kWh battery pack. The standard engines can be paired with either an eight-speed automatic or a six-speed manual, while the diesel, V8, and 4xe are automatic-only.
• Safety package: The standard safety equipment includes a rearview camera, electronic roll mitigation, and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are standard only on the top 392 model, and lane-keeping assist is not offered.
• Infotainment: A 7-inch touchscreen with Jeep’s Uconnect system is standard, while the tester uses an 8.4-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, and over-the-air updates apply only to the Uconnect system.
• Fuel efficiency: Fuel economy ranges from 19 mpg combined to 23 mpg combined, with the diesel returning 25 mpg combined and the 4xe delivering 49 mpge combined.

Which 2023 Jeep Wrangler trim should I buy?

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler is offered in 8 trim levels: Sport, High Altitude, Willys Sport, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon 392, 4xe, and 392.

Here's the short version:

• Sport: This is the entry point, but it is the least equipped for serious trail use because it lacks the differential lockers and aggressive dirt tires that make the Wrangler shine. It makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and plan to add capability later.
• High Altitude: This trim leans more toward style and comfort than hard-core trail hardware, and the review specifically notes that it does not get locking differentials or meaty tires. It suits you if you want Wrangler character with a more upscale feel.
• Willys Sport: This is another trim called out as missing the key off-road hardware that many Wrangler shoppers want. It is best if you value the look and basic Wrangler experience more than maximum trail capability.
• Sahara: Like the other lower and mid-level trims mentioned in the review, this one does not get locking differentials or meaty tires. It is the better fit if you want a more everyday-friendly Wrangler, but it is not the best value for off-road buyers.
• Rubicon: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds front and rear differential lockers, a front disconnecting sway bar, rock rails, and skid plates. If you know you’ll spend real time on rocks and trails, this is the trim to target.
• Rubicon 392: This is the wild performance choice, with a 6.4-liter V8 and serious straight-line punch. It is the one to buy if you want maximum power and don’t mind the compromises that come with it.
• 4xe: This plug-in hybrid is the efficiency-focused option, pairing trail-ready intent with electric assistance and 21 miles of all-electric range. It makes the most sense if you want Wrangler capability with better fuel-saving potential.
• 392: This top model is the one with the standard advanced safety features, including blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control. It is the most feature-rich choice, but also the most expensive.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Jeep Wrangler?

The market is leaning in your favor right now.

• Deal availability: 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 7,516 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $34,355, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler's resale value?

The current average of $34,813 sits slightly below last year's $36,858.

That softer pricing suggests the Wrangler is more accessible to buy now than it was a year ago, which can help you enter the market at a better value. For a future seller, that also means resale performance will depend heavily on condition, trim, and equipment rather than just the badge alone.

Wranglers with the right off-road hardware and strong presentation should hold buyer interest better than stripped-down examples. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Jeep Wrangler safe?

The Jeep Wrangler earns four-star ratings for frontal crash and three-star ratings for rollover from NHTSA, and the IIHS shows an almost even split between Good and Marginal ratings across its crashworthiness, crash avoidance and mitigation, and seat belts and child restraints categories.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety equipment includes a rearview camera, electronic roll mitigation, and stability control. Blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are standard only on the top 392 model, and lane-keeping assist is not offered.

The safety picture is mixed, and some trims also receive Poor headlight ratings, so you should pay close attention to the exact trim and equipment level you’re considering.

Should I buy a 2023 Jeep Wrangler or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 41.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It delivers strong off-road capability with multiple powertrain choices and a purpose-built, open-air design.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $29,938, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $34,813 average.
• It offers retro styling, removable doors, and fold-down windshield versatility.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $36,872, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $34,813 average.
• It adds a more modern feel with updated technology, safety, and refinement.

The bottom line: You should buy the 2023 if you want the best balance of price, inventory, and Wrangler character. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the value play; if you want newer tech and can spend more, the 2024 is the upgrade path.
