CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6
overall

Summary
With 676 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,380, 37.9% of 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 4.7 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.8 / 10.
91.7% of 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 stands out first and foremost for its design. Hyundai’s latest EV is described as having a look that’s impossible to ignore, and the production version of the Hyundai Prophecy concept gives it a capsule-shaped sedan profile that sets it apart from the more retro-styled Hyundai Ioniq 5. That cleaner, traditional-sedan shape is a major part of its appeal, especially in a market where electric crossovers are more common.
Beyond the styling, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 carries over several of the strengths associated with Hyundai’s EV approach. It uses Hyundai’s E-GMP dedicated EV architecture and offers high-power charging and a user-friendly infotainment system. The lineup includes Standard Range and Long Range battery packs, single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrains, and SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels. In driving impressions, it also earns praise for great handling, impressive electric range, and comfort.
The tradeoffs are tied closely to its shape and mission. Its design may be polarizing, and it does not offer much cargo space. Even so, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is distinctive because it combines sedan styling with the kind of EV hardware and everyday usability that make it a compelling alternative for buyers who want something different from the usual electric crossover.

Smart park assist to pull out from garage and park into narrow space is cool. Interior is spacious. Trunk is spacious. Drunk is small and useless, bad idea not to have a cover. My sole complaint with electric vehicles right now is that they feel sterile. They take away what makes/made driving enjoyable. For most, this is probably a non-issue, but for some, me included, a vehicle that provides feedback is a vehicle that makes driving worthwhile and pleasurable.

| Year-Round Low | $22,825 |
| Year-Round High | $26,309 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $26,318 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −3.34% |
Prices have softened 3.34% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 667 listings available, which suggests you should have a workable selection to compare.
Is the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 a good car?
Yes — the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
It stands out as a distinctive electric sedan with a capsule-shaped profile, a low-drag body, and a cabin that pairs modern design with user-friendly tech. It also brings strong handling, impressive range, and a comfortable ride, which makes it appealing if you want an EV sedan that feels polished without being a crossover.
The main trade-offs are its polarizing styling and limited cargo space. Even so, the lineup’s mix of Standard Range and Long Range battery packs, plus rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive options, gives you flexibility depending on how you plan to use it.
With 34.6% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
Hyundai’s EV architecture, high-power charging, and broad warranty coverage support confidence in day-to-day ownership. The car also benefits from a straightforward electric powertrain layout and a user-friendly cabin, which can reduce the kinds of complexity that sometimes make used-car ownership harder.
The performance and ownership package points to a model that should be manageable for used buyers, especially if you keep up with charging habits and basic EV checks. For long-term ownership, your biggest risk is less about mechanical complexity and more about buying a car with neglected battery or charging history.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a used EV where charging behavior and battery condition matter. Focus on overall condition, tire wear, brake wear, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE, SEL, and Limited trims differ in equipment, with the base SE using cloth seats while SEL and Limited add H-Tex leatherette upholstery. The Limited also adds front heated and ventilated seats, so base-trim shoppers should check whether the missing comfort and convenience features matter to them.
- Powertrain: The lineup includes single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive setups. The base SE RWD Standard Range makes 149 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the Long Range rear-drive version rises to 225 hp; AWD models add a front motor for 320 hp and 446 lb-ft.
- Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. SEL adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while Limited adds Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
- Infotainment: The cabin uses dual 12.3-inch displays, with Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto standard. CarPlay and Android Auto are wired only, and the system also supports Hyundai’s Digital Key and Bluelink connectivity.
- Range & charging: EPA range runs up to 361 miles in SE RWD Long Range form, with the base SE RWD Standard Range rated at 240 miles and AWD versions at 316 miles or 270 miles depending on trim. The battery is 53 kWh in the base setup, and DC fast charging can reach up to 350 kW for a 10% to 80% charge in 18 minutes.
- Battery health: Ask for battery state-of-health information, confirm normal charging behavior, and review whether the car has spent most of its life on home charging or repeated fast charging. You should also verify how much of the battery warranty remains.
Which 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the value-focused choice if you want the IONIQ 6’s core design, EV hardware, and standard driver-assist tech without paying for extra comfort or parking features. It makes the most sense if you’re prioritizing price and can live without the upgraded cabin and convenience equipment.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while also moving you up from the base cabin setup. If you want a more complete daily-driver package without jumping to the top trim, this is the one to target.
- Limited: This is the trim to buy if you want the most features, including Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, Blind-Spot View Monitor, and front heated and ventilated seats. It suits you best if convenience and parking tech matter more than keeping the purchase price down.
The safety-package progression is clear: SE gets the basics, SEL adds more advanced assistance, and Limited brings the fullest feature set.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it makes sense to shop carefully and compare listings.
- Deal availability: 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 667 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.34% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 90.9% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,825, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6's resale value?
The current average of $25,438 sits slightly below last year's $26,318.
That softer pricing suggests the model has already moved through some of its early depreciation, which can help future sellers if demand stays steady. The current market also shows a meaningful spread between the low and high end of the year-round range, so condition and trim will matter when you eventually resell.
Because the IONIQ 6 combines strong efficiency, distinctive styling, and broad appeal as an EV sedan, well-kept examples should remain competitive with shoppers looking for something different from a crossover. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 safe?
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard driver-assist tech includes forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. SEL adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while Limited adds Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
A key caveat is that crash-test ratings from NHTSA and IIHS aren’t available yet, so you should lean more heavily on the equipment list and trim differences when comparing used examples. If safety tech is a priority, the SEL and Limited trims are the ones that add the most meaningful upgrades.
Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai IONIQ 6 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 34.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.34% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out for its distinctive sedan styling, strong range, and user-friendly EV hardware.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $26,317, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $25,438 average.
- It adds a more polished all-around recommendation with strong range, sporty performance, and a comfortable ride.
The bottom line: If you want the better price and a strong used-market setup, the 2023 is the smarter starting point. If you’re willing to pay a bit more for a newer model year, the 2024 is the cleaner choice for buyers who want the latest version of the same basic formula.
