CarGurus Analysis: 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6
overall

Summary
With 631 currently listed for sale and an average price of $25,463, 38.8% of 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 listings on CarGurus are rated as good or great deals.
Favorably reviewed: Owners rated the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 4.67 / 5 stars and CarGurus experts gave it a 7.83 / 10.
91.4% of 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 listings on CarGurus are accident free.
Why it stands out
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 stands out first and foremost for its design. Hyundai’s latest EV is described as having a look that’s impossible to ignore, and the production version of the Hyundai Prophecy concept gives it a capsule-shaped sedan profile that sets it apart from the more retro-styled Hyundai Ioniq 5. That cleaner, traditional-sedan shape is a major part of its appeal, especially in a market where electric crossovers are more common.
Beyond the styling, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 carries over several of the strengths associated with Hyundai’s EV approach. It uses Hyundai’s E-GMP dedicated EV architecture and offers high-power charging and a user-friendly infotainment system. The lineup includes Standard Range and Long Range battery packs, single-motor rear-wheel drive and dual-motor all-wheel drive powertrains, and SE, SEL, and Limited trim levels. In driving impressions, it also earns praise for great handling, impressive electric range, and comfort.
The tradeoffs are tied closely to its shape and mission. Its design may be polarizing, and it does not offer much cargo space. Even so, the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is distinctive because it combines sedan styling with the kind of EV hardware and everyday usability that make it a compelling alternative for buyers who want something different from the usual electric crossover.

Smart park assist to pull out from garage and park into narrow space is cool. Interior is spacious. Trunk is spacious. Drunk is small and useless, bad idea not to have a cover. My sole complaint with electric vehicles right now is that they feel sterile. They take away what makes/made driving enjoyable. For most, this is probably a non-issue, but for some, me included, a vehicle that provides feedback is a vehicle that makes driving worthwhile and pleasurable.

There are 626 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.
Is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 a good car?
Yes — 4.67/5 from owners and 7.83/10 from experts. The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 stands out for its distinctive sedan shape, strong EV hardware, and everyday usability. It uses Hyundai’s dedicated EV architecture, offers high-power charging, and pairs that with a user-friendly infotainment setup.
The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.
The main trade-offs are a potentially polarizing design and limited cargo space. Even so, the combination of range, comfort, and handling makes it a strong fit if you want an electric sedan that feels different from the usual crossover.
39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there’s still room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 reliable?
Owners rate it 4.67/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is built around Hyundai’s E-GMP EV architecture, which supports its charging speed, packaging, and everyday usability. It also benefits from a generous warranty package, including battery coverage, which is especially relevant for used-EV shoppers.
The expert notes also point to a well-integrated powertrain and a comfortable, composed driving experience, both of which support confidence in daily use. Hyundai’s free connectivity package for as long as the network remains active is another ownership perk that helps the car feel current over time.
For used buyers, the biggest long-term risk is making sure the battery and charging system have been cared for properly, since EV ownership depends heavily on battery health and charging habits.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6?
Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
You should still run a vehicle history report and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on an EV where battery condition and charging behavior matter. Focus on overall condition, charging-port health, tire wear, and whether the car has been used mostly for home charging or frequent DC fast charging.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The SE is the most basic version, while SEL and Limited add more comfort and convenience equipment. The Limited stands out for front heated and ventilated seats, and the higher trims also bring more upscale cabin materials.

- Safety package: Standard driver aids include forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. SEL adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while Limited adds Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.

Which 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 is offered in 3 trim levels: SE, SEL, and Limited.
Here's the short version:
- SE: This is the entry point, and it makes the most sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with the simpler cabin and standard equipment. It’s the trim to consider if range and value matter more than luxury touches.
- SEL: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and safety upgrades without jumping all the way to the top price. It also brings blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2.
- Limited: This is the most fully equipped version, with the richest feature set, including front heated and ventilated seats, Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
The safety-package trim note is straightforward: SEL adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while Limited adds the most advanced parking and camera features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6?
This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile deals.
- Deal availability: 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 626 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 91.5% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $22,818, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6's resale value?
The current average of $25,461 sits slightly below last year's $26,514.
That decline suggests the market has softened, which can help you as a buyer now but may temper resale expectations later. If you buy at the right price, you reduce the risk of taking an immediate depreciation hit. The Ioniq 6’s strong range, comfort, and distinctive design should still help it hold interest among EV shoppers.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.67/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 safe?
The 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 does not have crash-test ratings listed here yet.
It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.
Standard driver-assist tech includes forward collision warning, lane keep assist, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. SEL adds blind-spot collision avoidance assist and Highway Driving Assist 2, while Limited adds Remote Smart Parking Assist 2, a surround-view camera system, and Blind-Spot View Monitor.
One caveat is that Highway Driving Assist 2 still requires you to keep your hands on the wheel, and the system’s automated lane changes can feel slow.
Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 6 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 39.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is excellent at 91.5% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 3.97% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 4.67/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It stands out for its distinctive sedan design, strong range, and comfortable ride.
Consider the 2024 if:
- At $26,291, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $25,461 average.
- It adds broader appeal with plenty of range and a more polished everyday feel.
The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2023 is the smarter buy because prices have softened and inventory is healthy. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2024 is the cleaner alternative for buyers who want to compare across years before deciding.
