Prioritize a thorough inspection of the battery-related systems, charging equipment, tires, brakes, and interior condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect your ownership experience. Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Ioniq 5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 38.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have held steady compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.73/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $22,147, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $27,434 average.
• It emphasizes innovation, uniqueness, and mainstream appeal.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger all-around used-buying case, the 2023 is the better target because it combines strong owner satisfaction, stable pricing, and a healthy supply of clean listings. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2022 is the better value-focused alternative, especially if you’re comfortable trading some of the 2023’s market strength for a lower purchase price.
