How much does the 2023 Hyundai Elantra cost?

Prices have softened 4.05% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,899 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Hyundai Elantra earns a 4.9/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Cost effectiveness at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its fuel economy, safety features, value for the price, stylish design, and tech features. The expert review also highlights multiple powertrain options, easy-to-use technology, and strong value for money.

The trade-offs are a potentially polarizing design and some concerns about interior quality and noise, including cheap-feeling materials and occasional rattling. Even so, the overview frames it as a compact sedan that can serve as basic transportation, a fuel-efficient hybrid, or a budget-friendly sports sedan.

Good and great deals account for 36.5% of listings, which suggests you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable in daily use, with strong praise for fuel economy, safety features, and overall value. The expert review also reinforces that impression by describing the Elantra as cost-effective and backed by a long warranty and complimentary scheduled maintenance.

Every new Elantra comes with Hyundai’s 10-year/100,000-mile powertrain warranty, five-year/50,000-mile bumper-to-bumper coverage, and three years or 36,000 miles of complimentary scheduled maintenance. For used buyers, that kind of ownership support helps reduce long-term risk, though you should still verify maintenance history and condition carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Hyundai Elantra?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free listings are common but not universal. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection if you’re considering a higher-mileage car or one with visible wear, and pay close attention to interior condition, trim fit, and any signs of rattles or noise.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Elantra SE is the value play, while the SEL and Limited add more upscale feel and equipment. The SEL Convenience package adds 17-inch wheels and the larger digital displays, and the Limited brings a more upscale cabin presentation.
• Powertrain: The standard setup uses a 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 147 horsepower, a CVT Hyundai calls an IVT, and front-wheel drive. The lineup also includes hybrid versions and sportier variants, with the N Line and Elantra N offering more performance-focused character.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, safe exit warning, a driver monitoring system, and a rear-seat reminder. Higher trims add blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, Highway Driving Assist, cyclist detection, and intersection turning assist.
• Infotainment: The available 10.25-inch digital instrumentation and infotainment displays are a major upgrade. Standard features include Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, satellite radio, connected services, dynamic voice recognition, navigation, and wireless smartphone charging, but CarPlay and Android Auto require a USB connection rather than wireless use.
• Fuel efficiency: The test car returned 33 mpg during evaluation, close to its official 34 mpg rating. The hybrid versions are described as delivering between 50 mpg and 54 mpg in combined driving, depending on trim.

Which 2023 Hyundai Elantra trim should I buy?

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra is offered in 6 trim levels: SE, SEL, Limited, Blue, N Line, and N.

Here's the short version:

• SE: This is the entry point and the best fit if you want the lowest-cost way into the Elantra lineup. It gives you the core Elantra formula without the extra equipment that pushes the higher trims upward in price.
• SEL: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds meaningful comfort and convenience without jumping too far upmarket. If you want a more rounded daily driver, this is the trim to focus on first.
• Limited: This is the right choice if you want the most upscale feel in the standard lineup. The cabin presentation, lighting, and tech make it feel more premium than its price suggests.
• Blue: This is the efficiency-focused hybrid choice, and it makes the most sense if fuel economy is your top priority.
• N Line: This is the sportier pick if you want more personality and a more engaging driving experience than the standard trims provide.
• N: This is the enthusiast model if you want the most performance-oriented Elantra and the strongest driving character in the lineup.

The safety package is broad across the lineup, but some advanced driver-assistance features are reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Hyundai Elantra?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop patiently but still move quickly on the right car.

• Deal availability: 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,899 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.05% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $18,678, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra's resale value?

The current average of $18,678 sits slightly below last year's $19,467.

That price movement suggests the Elantra has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. A lower current average can be good news for you as a buyer, but it also means a seller may need to price competitively to stand out.

The model’s broad appeal, strong value reputation, and high owner satisfaction should help support demand over time. Cars that combine efficiency, safety, and strong ownership approval tend to stay relevant with used shoppers longer than more niche alternatives.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Hyundai Elantra safe?

The 2023 Hyundai Elantra earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal crash protection and five-star ratings in all other NHTSA crash-test categories.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

The standard safety suite includes automatic high-beam headlights, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, a safe exit warning system, a driver monitoring system, and a rear-seat reminder system. Higher trims add cyclist detection, intersection turning assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear parking sensors, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, and Highway Driving Assist.

One caveat is that the IIHS did not carry forward the prior model year’s Top Safety Pick rating for this year. Even so, the Elantra’s standard equipment and strong NHTSA results make it a compelling safety choice.

Should I buy a 2023 Hyundai Elantra or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.05% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It broadens access to the larger digital displays and keeps the lineup versatile across efficiency, comfort, and sportiness.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $16,862, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $18,678 average.
• It offers strong value, a roomy cabin, and excellent fuel economy.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $19,265, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $18,678 average.
• It adds a mild refresh with more style and standard equipment.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and broad appeal, the 2023 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want the newer refresh and can spend more, the 2024 is worth a look.
