How much does the 2023 Honda Pilot cost?

Prices have softened 6.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,259 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Honda Pilot earns a 4.42/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating, which points to broad appeal for shoppers who want a roomy three-row SUV. The standout strength is Form and function at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its spaciousness, comfortable ride, and room for up to 8 passengers, and the overview also highlights useful tech features and a more rugged, family-friendly design. The main trade-offs are that fuel economy is merely average and the infotainment system can feel underwhelming compared with rivals.

For you, that means the Pilot makes the most sense if you want a practical, comfortable family hauler with broad everyday usefulness rather than a flashy or especially sporty SUV. Good and great deals account for 34.4% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot reliable?

Owners rate it 4.42/5, a solid signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience centered on spaciousness, comfort, and family-friendly usability. The expert drive notes that the Pilot’s advanced safety features functioned as they should, and the adaptive cruise control maintains distance smoothly.

If you buy used, the main long-term ownership risk is that the Pilot’s average fuel economy and some reported engine-performance concerns may matter more over time if you do a lot of driving.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you like, because clean inventory does not replace a documented accident check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on cabin condition, electronics, and how well the vehicle’s comfort and convenience features work. Since this model is aimed at family use, pay close attention to wear in the second and third rows, cargo-area condition, and whether the infotainment and driver-assistance systems behave as expected.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX is the most stripped-down version, while the EX-L adds a larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, USB ports in every row, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, and second-row sunshades. The Touring and Elite trims add more convenience and tech, and the Elite also brings a head-up display and a fully digital instrument panel.
• Powertrain: You get an all-new 3.5-liter V6 with 285 horsepower and 262 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard on most trims, while all-wheel drive is available across the lineup and standard on the Elite and TrailSport.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while the TrailSport and Elite include surround-view and multi-view camera systems.
• Infotainment: The larger touchscreen comes on the EX-L and higher trims, along with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, and USB ports in every row. Higher trims also add a multi-view camera system, and the Touring and Elite bring navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control via a smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA estimates 19 mpg city, 27 mpg highway, and 22 mpg combined for the FWD model. AWD drops that to 19 mpg city, 25 mpg highway, and 21 mpg combined, while the TrailSport is rated at 18 mpg city, 23 mpg highway, and 20 mpg combined.

Which 2023 Honda Pilot trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda Pilot is offered in 5 trim levels: LX, EX-L, TrailSport, Touring, Elite.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Pilot’s core space and comfort without paying for extra convenience features. It is the least expensive path into the lineup, but you give up the richer tech and comfort upgrades found higher up.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim. It adds the larger touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless phone charger, USB ports in every row, a power liftgate, leather upholstery, a universal garage door opener, second-row sunshades, and the extra safety and technology features that make daily use easier.
• TrailSport: Choose this if you actually plan to explore moderately challenging off-road terrain. It adds the rugged hardware and capability that match the Pilot’s more adventurous personality, but it is not the right pick if you plan to keep the SUV mostly on pavement.
• Touring: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale family hauler with added convenience and entertainment features. It builds on the EX-L with navigation, Bose premium audio, remote monitoring and control via a smartphone app, and a Wi-Fi hotspot.
• Elite: This is the top choice if you want the most equipment and the most advanced tech. It adds a head-up display, a fully digital instrument panel, and the most complete feature set in the lineup.

The TrailSport and Elite trims also include surround-view and multi-view camera systems, which is a useful safety and visibility upgrade.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda Pilot?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,259 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $36,874, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda Pilot's resale value?

The current average of $36,944 sits slightly below last year's $39,541.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you better buying leverage now, but it also means future sellers may need to price competitively to stand out. If you buy at the right number and keep the vehicle in strong condition, you should be in a better position to limit depreciation pressure later. The Pilot’s broad family appeal and strong owner satisfaction help support demand over time.

Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.42/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda Pilot safe?

The 2023 Pilot received a Top Safety Pick+ from the IIHS.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard Honda Sensing features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, lane-keeping assist, traffic-jam assist, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, adaptive cruise control, a traffic sign reader, automatic high beams, and a driver attention monitor. EX-L and higher trims add low-speed automatic braking plus front and rear parking sensors, while the TrailSport and Elite include surround-view and multi-view camera systems.

One caveat is that crash test results were not yet available from NHTSA in the source material, so you should still check the latest official results before buying.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda Pilot or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.42/5 — a solid satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model is fully redesigned with a more rugged appearance, more power, and an off-road-capable TrailSport model.

The bottom line: If you want the newest redesign with stronger styling, more capability, and a broad mix of family-friendly features, the 2023 is the one to target. If your priority is simply the lowest possible purchase price, a nearby older model year may be the better value path, especially if you can live with fewer of the 2023 redesign’s upgrades.
