How much does the 2023 Honda CR-V cost?

Prices have softened 3.25% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 6,012 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Honda CR-V earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 7.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Form and function and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its smooth ride, quality interior, and strong features, and they also respond well to its safety and economy. The CR-V’s roomy packaging and comfortable driving character make it especially appealing if you want a practical compact crossover that is easy to live with every day.

The trade-offs are that the transmission can be irritating and the styling is uninspired, and the tech package still trails some rivals in ambition. Even so, the CR-V’s space, comfort, and improved equipment make it a strong fit if you value usability over flash.

There are 39.5% good or great deals in the market, so you still have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe the CR-V as smooth, quality-built, and dependable, with strong marks for safety and economy. That combination suggests you’re looking at a model that many owners feel good about keeping for the long haul.

Honda also backs the CR-V with a complimentary maintenance plan for two years or 24,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership costs. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a higher-mileage example may reflect the model’s earlier reliability concerns if it was not maintained carefully.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re comparing multiple listings at similar prices. Focus on overall condition, maintenance records, and whether the vehicle’s equipment matches the trim you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The EX and EX-L share the same exterior look, but the EX-L adds leather-wrapped seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, a larger touchscreen, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, a power rear liftgate, and front and rear parking sensors. The EX-L is the better-value choice if you want more comfort and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The standard setup is a turbocharged 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 190 horsepower and 179 pound-feet of torque, paired with a continuously variable automatic transmission and front- or all-wheel drive. It is plenty for a compact SUV, but the transmission can drone under hard acceleration.
• Safety package: Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, rear-seat reminder system, driver monitoring system, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist. The lane-centering system can feel uncertain in some highway situations.
• Infotainment: The EX has a 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. The EX-L upgrades to a 9-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, wireless charging, and an upgraded eight-speaker sound system.
• Fuel efficiency: The EPA says the test vehicle should get 29 mpg in combined driving, and it averaged 29.1 mpg on a mountainous evaluation route.

Which 2023 Honda CR-V trim should I buy?

The 2023 Honda CR-V is offered in 2 trim levels: EX and EX-L.

Here's the short version:

• EX: This is the entry point to the lineup, and it gives you the core CR-V formula with the turbocharged engine, the 7-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the full Honda Sensing safety suite. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the redesigned CR-V, but it is the simpler choice.
• EX-L: This is the best-value trim if you want the most complete everyday experience. It adds leather-wrapped interior touchpoints, a larger touchscreen, wireless smartphone integration, wireless charging, an upgraded sound system, a power rear liftgate, and parking sensors, making it the more appealing pick for most shoppers.

Honda Sensing is standard across the lineup, so you get the same core driver-assistance coverage either way.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Honda CR-V?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully without feeling rushed.

• Deal availability: 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 6,012 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.25% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $28,736, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Honda CR-V's resale value?

The current average of $28,736 sits slightly below last year's $29,701.

That softer pricing can help you buy more confidently now, but it also means a future seller may face a market that is still adjusting to the model’s newer pricing structure. If demand stays steady, the CR-V’s broad appeal should help support values, especially for well-kept examples with desirable equipment.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Honda CR-V safe?

The 2023 Honda CR-V has not yet been crash-tested by NHTSA or IIHS.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Honda Sensing is standard and includes adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, automatic high-beam headlights, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, a seatbelt reminder system, rear-seat reminder system, driver monitoring, traffic sign recognition, and Traffic Jam Assist.

The lane-centering system can feel uncertain in some highway situations, and it can add a slightly artificial feel to the steering. Even so, the overall safety package is broad and well-rounded for the class.

Should I buy a 2023 Honda CR-V or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 39.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 3.25% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• A redesigned cabin, improved infotainment, and expanded safety tech make this year a meaningful step forward.

The bottom line: If you want the redesigned CR-V with better tech and a strong ownership reputation, the 2023 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, you may want to compare nearby model years to see whether a lower purchase price outweighs the 2023’s updated equipment.
