Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G90 stands out as a major refresh for the sedan, and the test-drive notes describe it as packed with more luxury features than ever before. It is positioned as a really great luxury sedan, with a stylish design and an emphasis on value for money that helps it compete on price as well as equipment.
Its cabin is especially notable for rear-seat comfort and upscale touches. The available features called out include massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system. The back seat is also described as spacious, which adds to its appeal as a luxury sedan meant to pamper passengers as much as the driver.
There are a couple of drawbacks to keep in mind. Interior storage is limited, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired rather than wireless. Even so, the 2023 Genesis G90’s combination of features, comfort, and competitive pricing makes it a compelling choice in the luxury sedan segment.

Great build quality and value, every feature you would want in a luxury car. The style and materials are top notch. The drive is very smooth, and the engine is nothing special, but it has plenty of power.

Reviewed a 2023 Genesis G90 on Jan 24, 2023
Purchased a 2018 G90 Premium RWD in Dec 2022. Had been impressed with previous reviews and comparo(s) versus comparable autos. After six weeks, expectations have far exceeded hopes. Ride is silky smooth without sacrifying handling. Super quiet. That said, some functions for audio and nav are not very intuitive. Adding channels and addresses is proving more daunting than anticipated. Power is impressive for a car this size and weight. Price point versus other luxury cars is well worth giving a hard look. You won’t be disappointed.

Great features, needs larger Heads up screen, dials should not be made of plastic, 5.0 option engine, more leather, and more voice command option. Not worth 100K. Compared to Lexus and Audi A8.

Is the 2023 Genesis G90 a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 8.67/10 expert rating point to a sedan that lands strongly with shoppers and our test-drive team. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
The 2023 Genesis G90 is presented as a major refresh with a stylish design, a luxury-first cabin, and a value-for-money pitch that helps it compete on equipment as much as price. It stands out for rear-seat comfort, with available massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
The trade-offs are straightforward: not much interior storage and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Even so, if you want a luxury sedan that emphasizes comfort, features, and competitive pricing, this one fits that use case well.
Good and great deals make up 37.9% of listings, which suggests there is still some room to shop selectively.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2023 Genesis G90 is described as a quiet, well-built luxury sedan with a strong emphasis on comfort, refinement, and generous equipment, and the expert notes also highlight a smooth, low-stress driving character.
On the dependability side, the performance notes point to a stop/start system that restarts cleanly without vibration or noise, which is a good sign of polish in everyday use. The cost-effectiveness notes also point to complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership friction.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about making sure the car has been maintained properly and that its luxury features are all working as intended.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G90?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, confirm the car’s condition matches the listing, and prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin electronics and comfort features. Because this is a luxury sedan with a lot of equipment, you’ll want to make sure the seats, screens, cameras, and driver-assistance systems all operate correctly.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The cabin emphasizes upscale materials, rear-seat comfort, and a premium feel, but the base setup still leaves you with wired smartphone mirroring rather than wireless convenience.
- Powertrain: The G90 is available with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque, while the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 E-SC raises output to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft through a 48-volt mild hybrid setup.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance.
- Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an 8-inch rear-seat touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates.
- Fuel efficiency: The less powerful engine returns 21 mpg combined (18 city / 26 highway), while the top trim returns 20 mpg combined (17 city / 24 highway).
Which 2023 Genesis G90 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G90 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.5T, 3.5T E-SC.
Here's the short version:
- 3.5T: This is the better-value choice if you want the G90’s luxury, comfort, and standard equipment without paying for the extra output of the top model. It still gives you the core experience: a richly appointed cabin, strong standard driver assistance, and the sedan’s emphasis on rear-seat comfort.
- 3.5T E-SC: This is the one to choose if you want the most powerful version and the most relaxed, effortless feel from the lineup. It adds the 48-volt mild hybrid setup and the higher output figures, so it suits you best if you want the flagship powertrain and are willing to pay for it.
Safety content points to a very thorough standard driver-assistance package, so you do not need to move up trims just to get the core safety tech.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G90?
This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile options.
- Deal availability: 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 66 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 86.4% of listings are accident-free.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 safe?
The 2023 Genesis G90 hasn’t published IIHS or NHTSA safety ratings yet.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis makes advanced driver assistance standard, including blind-spot monitoring with audible and visual warnings, a blind-spot camera view in the gauge cluster, a head-up display warning for approaching traffic, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 37.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- It’s a major refresh with more luxury features than ever, including massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
The bottom line: If you want the refreshed G90 with a stronger luxury focus, the 2023 is the right target. If you’re more price-sensitive, you can still shop the market carefully and look for the best-equipped example that fits your budget, especially since the model’s value proposition is a major part of its appeal.
