About 2022 Genesis G90
The Genesis G90 is the luxury brand’s flagship full-size sedan. 2022 is the final model year for the first generation, as the second was introduced in November of 2021 and is set to launch for 2023. The G90 competes with other premium full-sized luxury sedans like the Audi A8, the BMW 7 Series, and the Mercedes-Benz S-Class. The 2022 Genesis G90 is front-engined, rear-wheel drive (RWD) sedan with all-wheel drive (AWD) available in all trim levels for an extra fee of $2,500. The Genesis G90 3.3T Premium features a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6 which delivers 365 hp and 376 lb-ft of torque. The G90 5.0L Ultimate features a 5.0-liter V8 which makes 420 hp and 383 lb-ft of torque. Regardless of the engine (or trim level) choice, the G90 is equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 2022 G90 is largely a carryover model—a complete overhaul is expected next year. For now, the G90 lineup continues to come equipped with a 12.3-inch HD screen controlled via a knob on the console, with a wireless charging pad, a 17-speaker Lexicon sound system, and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Wired as opposed to wireless smartphone connectivity may not sound very high-end, but other features in the G90 live up to the luxury segment. The quilted Nappa leather seats are both heated and ventilated, and the rear-seat occupants get footrests, reclining seats, and the ability to expand their space by moving the front passenger seat up and out of the way. Separate controls for the second row also manage infotainment, appropriate for a car whose owners may choose not to drive but to be driven: This way, you can still run the show from the back. As it did in 2021, the G90 has again earned a Top Safety Pick+ award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). It comes with a full gamut of standard advanced safety and driver-assistance features, including forward-collision warning, driver-attention monitoring, lane-keeping assist, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, and adaptive cruise control. The 2022 Genesis G90 starts at $74,950 for the 3.3T Premium trim with RWD and at $78,700 for the 5.0L Ultimate trim with RWD. Adding AWD tacks on $2,500 to either base price.
