Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G90 stands out as a major refresh for Genesis’s flagship sedan, and the test-drive data describes it as packed with more features than ever before. It is positioned as a luxury sedan that pushes design and features while still aiming to deliver strong value for money. That combination gives it a distinctive appeal: it tries to feel richly equipped without losing sight of pricing competitiveness in the segment.
Inside, the 2023 Genesis G90 leans heavily into comfort and rear-seat luxury. The data highlights massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, along with a spacious back seat. Those traits make it especially attractive to buyers who care about passenger comfort and a premium atmosphere. The main drawbacks noted are limited interior storage and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so while it is clearly generous on luxury, it is not entirely without compromises.

Great build quality and value, every feature you would want in a luxury car. The style and materials are top notch. The drive is very smooth, and the engine is nothing special, but it has plenty of power.

Purchased a 2018 G90 Premium RWD in Dec 2022. Had been impressed with previous reviews and comparo(s) versus comparable autos. After six weeks, expectations have far exceeded hopes. Ride is silky smooth without sacrifying handling. Super quiet. That said, some functions for audio and nav are not very intuitive. Adding channels and addresses is proving more daunting than anticipated. Power is impressive for a car this size and weight. Price point versus other luxury cars is well worth giving a hard look. You won’t be disappointed.

Great features, needs larger Heads up screen, dials should not be made of plastic, 5.0 option engine, more leather, and more voice command option. Not worth 100K. Compared to Lexus and Audi A8.

Is the 2023 Genesis G90 a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 8.7/10 expert rating point to a sedan that delivers strongly for shoppers who want luxury and comfort. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
The 2023 Genesis G90 is described as a major refresh for Genesis’s flagship sedan, and the overview emphasizes that it leans hard into comfort and features. The expert summary says it is packed with more luxury features than the competition, with highlights like massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
The trade-offs are real, though: interior storage is limited, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired rather than wireless. Even so, if you want a luxury sedan that prioritizes presence, comfort, and equipment over flashier performance, the G90 fits that brief well. Good and great deals make up 34.5% of listings, which suggests there is at least some room to shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The overview presents the G90 as a comfort-focused flagship sedan with strong value, and the expert summary reinforces that it is built to compete on luxury features rather than gimmicks.
The performance notes also point to a polished, low-stress ownership experience: the stop/start system is described as exceptionally smooth, with no vibration or noise on startup, and the car is tuned as a cruiser rather than a hard-driving sedan. The cost-effectiveness notes add that Genesis includes complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles, which helps reduce early ownership hassle.
For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about outright durability and more about making sure the car’s premium equipment has been maintained properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G90?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury sedan with a long list of electronics and comfort features. Focus on the condition of the interior, the infotainment system, and the driver-assistance features, since those are central to the G90’s appeal. It is also worth confirming that the wired smartphone integration and rear-seat amenities work as expected.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The G90 emphasizes upscale materials and comfort features, with Nappa leather, real wood veneer, ambient lighting, and rear-seat accommodations that help it feel special. The base setup already includes a strong luxury presentation, so you should compare how much value you place on the added equipment versus the simpler configuration.
- Powertrain: The G90 is available with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower and 391 pound-feet of torque. The performance tuning is geared toward smooth cruising, and the stop/start system is notably refined.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance. The gauge cluster can also show a blind-spot video feed when you signal.
- Infotainment: The cabin uses a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and an 8-inch rear-seat touchscreen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired, and over-the-air updates are supported for the life of the car.
- Fuel efficiency: The G90 returns 21 mpg combined on the less powerful engine, with 18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway. The top trim returns 20 mpg combined, with 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.
Which 2023 Genesis G90 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G90 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.5T and 3.5T E-SC.
Here's the short version:
- 3.5T: This is the better-value choice if you want the G90’s core luxury experience without stretching to the top trim. It still gives you the flagship sedan’s comfort-first character, strong standard equipment, and the features that make the G90 stand out.
- 3.5T E-SC: This is the more powerful, more expensive choice, and it adds the extra output of the e-supercharged setup. Buy this one if you want the most fully equipped version and are willing to pay for the top-spec experience.
Genesis makes advanced driver assistance standard, so even the lower trim gets a strong safety package.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G90?
This looks like a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient and focused.
- Deal availability: 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 55 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 89.1% of listings are accident-free.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 safe?
The 2023 Genesis G90 has not yet been rated by IIHS or NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis makes advanced driver assistance standard, and the G90 includes blind-spot monitoring with audible and visual warnings, a blind-spot video feed in the gauge cluster, a head-up display warning for approaching traffic, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance. That gives you a broad safety net for both highway and parking situations.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 34.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2023 model is presented as a major refresh with more luxury features than the competition, including massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
The bottom line: If you want the refreshed G90 with its stronger feature set and luxury-first personality, the 2023 is the one to target. If you are more price-sensitive, you can still shop carefully and use the moderate deal availability to look for a well-kept example that fits your budget.
