Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G90 stands out as a major refresh for Genesis’s flagship sedan, and the test-drive data describes it as packed with more features than ever before. It is positioned as a luxury sedan that pushes design and features while still aiming to deliver strong value for money. That combination gives it a distinctive appeal: it tries to feel richly equipped without losing sight of pricing competitiveness in the segment.
Inside, the 2023 Genesis G90 leans heavily into comfort and rear-seat luxury. The data highlights massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system, along with a spacious back seat. Those traits make it especially attractive to buyers who care about passenger comfort and a premium atmosphere. The main drawbacks noted are limited interior storage and wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, so while it is clearly generous on luxury, it is not entirely without compromises.

Great build quality and value, every feature you would want in a luxury car. The style and materials are top notch. The drive is very smooth, and the engine is nothing special, but it has plenty of power.

Purchased a 2018 G90 Premium RWD in Dec 2022. Had been impressed with previous reviews and comparo(s) versus comparable autos. After six weeks, expectations have far exceeded hopes. Ride is silky smooth without sacrifying handling. Super quiet. That said, some functions for audio and nav are not very intuitive. Adding channels and addresses is proving more daunting than anticipated. Power is impressive for a car this size and weight. Price point versus other luxury cars is well worth giving a hard look. You won’t be disappointed.

Great features, needs larger Heads up screen, dials should not be made of plastic, 5.0 option engine, more leather, and more voice command option. Not worth 100K. Compared to Lexus and Audi A8.

How much does the 2023 Genesis G90 cost?
| Metric | Value |
|---|---|
| Current Average Price | $53,471 |
| Year-Round Low | $53,092 |
| Year-Round High | $57,303 |
| Average Price a Year Ago | $57,303 |
| Change vs. Last Year | −6.69% |
Prices have softened 6.69% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.
There are 57 listings available, which suggests a modest but workable amount of inventory for shoppers.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 a good car?
Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
The 2023 Genesis G90 is positioned as a luxury sedan that pushes design and features while still aiming to deliver strong value for money. The expert review describes it as a major refresh with more luxury features than the competition, and it leans heavily into rear-seat comfort with massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a premium audio system.
The trade-offs are clear: it is not trying to be a sporty sedan, and the transmission can feel a touch lazy when you ask for more power. It also gives up some convenience with wired smartphone mirroring instead of wireless connectivity.
With 33.3% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.
The expert review frames the G90 as a quiet, comfort-first luxury sedan with solid build quality and a strong emphasis on refinement. Its performance notes point to a smooth cruiser character, with an eight-speed automatic, standard all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, and a multi-chamber air suspension that helps it glide over broken pavement. The stop/start system is also described as exceptionally smooth, with no vibration or noise on restart.
On the ownership side, the warranty coverage is generous, and complimentary scheduled maintenance is included for three years or 36,000 miles. For used buyers, that combination points to relatively low day-to-day ownership stress, though you should still verify service history and make sure the car has been maintained properly.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G90?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the vehicle history report, confirm that the car’s luxury features work as intended, and pay close attention to interior condition because this sedan is all about cabin presentation. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on electronics, seat functions, and any signs of wear in the rear cabin, since that’s a major part of the G90’s appeal.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The G90’s cabin is defined by high-end materials, a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, and rear-seat amenities, but the base setup still leaves you with wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
- Powertrain: The G90 is available with a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 with 375 horsepower, and the top trim adds an e-supercharger system that raises output to 409 hp and 405 lb-ft of torque.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance.
- Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, an 8-inch rear-seat touchscreen, wireless smartphone mirroring is not included, and over-the-air updates are supported for the life of the car.
- Fuel efficiency: The less powerful engine returns 21 mpg combined (18 mpg city and 26 mpg highway), while the top trim returns 20 mpg combined (17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway).
Which 2023 Genesis G90 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G90 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.5T and 3.5T E-SC.
Here's the short version:
- 3.5T: This is the better-value choice if you want the G90’s core luxury experience without paying extra for the more powerful setup. It still gives you the flagship sedan’s comfort, design, and standard equipment, making it the trim most shoppers should start with.
- 3.5T E-SC: This is the pick if you want the strongest performance in the lineup and are willing to pay for the added output. It suits you best if you want the most powerful version of the G90 rather than the best value.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim to get the core driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G90?
This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough softness in pricing to reward patience.
- Deal availability: 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 57 listings available.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.69% compared with last year.
- Clean inventory: 86.0% of listings are accident-free.
If you find a listing below $53,092, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.
What is the 2023 Genesis G90's resale value?
The current average of $53,471 sits slightly below last year's $57,303.
That price movement suggests the G90 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can be helpful if you are buying now but less ideal if you are planning to sell soon. For a future seller, the current market indicates that value retention is being supported more by the car’s luxury content and pricing position than by rising demand.
If the model continues to hold its appeal as a feature-rich flagship sedan, resale should remain steadier than you might expect for a luxury car in this segment. Strong equipment and a favorable value story can help keep buyer interest alive.
Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 safe?
The 2023 Genesis G90 hasn’t published IIHS or NHTSA crash ratings yet.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis makes advanced driver assistance standard, including blind-spot monitoring, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance. The blind-spot system is especially thorough, with audible and visual warnings plus a camera feed in the gauge cluster when you signal.
A key caveat is that the published crash-test results are not yet available, so you should lean more heavily on the standard safety tech and your own inspection of the vehicle’s condition when shopping used.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 33.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 86% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Price trend: Prices have softened 6.69% compared with last year.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2023 model is described as a major refresh with more luxury features than the competition, plus massaging seats all the way around and a rear reclining seat with a footrest.
The bottom line: If you want the strongest mix of value, luxury content, and current market softness, the 2023 is the one to target. If you are especially price-sensitive, keep shopping carefully for the best deal within this year’s range, since the market still has room for negotiation.
How does the 2023 Genesis G90 compare to the 2023 BMW 7 Series?
Expert Pros & Cons (per CarGurus review team)
2023 Genesis G90:
- Pros: Excellent value for money, Stylish design, Spacious back seat.
- Cons: Not much interior storage, Wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2023 BMW 7 Series:
- Pros: Comfortable, Great ride quality, Great handling.
- Cons: Unintuitive technology, Potentially polarizing design.
Our experts score the 2023 Genesis G90 8.7/10 and the 2023 BMW 7 Series 6.7/10. The Genesis leans harder into value, style, and rear-seat space, while the BMW’s strengths are more about ride quality and handling. If you care most about a richly equipped luxury sedan with a strong value story, the G90 is the more compelling pick. If you prioritize driving dynamics and can live with more complicated tech, the 7 Series may still appeal.
