Why it stands out
The 2023 Genesis G90 stands out as a major refresh for the sedan, and the test-drive notes describe it as packed with more luxury features than ever before. It is positioned as a really great luxury sedan, with a stylish design and an emphasis on value for money that helps it compete on price as well as equipment.
Its cabin is especially notable for rear-seat comfort and upscale touches. The available features called out include massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system. The back seat is also described as spacious, which adds to its appeal as a luxury sedan meant to pamper passengers as much as the driver.
There are a couple of drawbacks to keep in mind. Interior storage is limited, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired rather than wireless. Even so, the 2023 Genesis G90’s combination of features, comfort, and competitive pricing makes it a compelling choice in the luxury sedan segment.
This analysis is based on CarGurus' proprietary market data from September 14, 2026, CarGurus experts' opinions, and generative AI.

Great build quality and value, every feature you would want in a luxury car. The style and materials are top notch. The drive is very smooth, and the engine is nothing special, but it has plenty of power.

Reviewed a 2023 Genesis G90 on Jan 24, 2023
Purchased a 2018 G90 Premium RWD in Dec 2022. Had been impressed with previous reviews and comparo(s) versus comparable autos. After six weeks, expectations have far exceeded hopes. Ride is silky smooth without sacrifying handling. Super quiet. That said, some functions for audio and nav are not very intuitive. Adding channels and addresses is proving more daunting than anticipated. Power is impressive for a car this size and weight. Price point versus other luxury cars is well worth giving a hard look. You won’t be disappointed.

Great features, needs larger Heads up screen, dials should not be made of plastic, 5.0 option engine, more leather, and more voice command option. Not worth 100K. Compared to Lexus and Audi A8.

Is the 2023 Genesis G90 a good car?
Yes — the 5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction, and the expert rating is 8.67/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, Cost effectiveness, and Safety.
The 2023 Genesis G90 is presented as a major refresh that leans hard into luxury, with a stylish design, a richly appointed cabin, and a value-for-money pitch that helps it compete on both price and equipment. It also stands out for rear-seat comfort, with available massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
The trade-offs are straightforward: interior storage is limited, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are wired rather than wireless. Even so, the combination of comfort, features, and competitive pricing makes it a compelling luxury sedan if you want a flagship feel without the usual flagship price. Good and great deals account for 42.6% of listings.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 reliable?
Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The G90 is described as a quiet, well-built luxury sedan with a strong emphasis on comfort and refinement, and the expert notes also highlight a smooth, composed driving character rather than a strained or overly complex one.
The performance notes point to a calm powertrain setup with an eight-speed automatic, standard all-wheel drive, rear-wheel steering, and a stop/start system that restarts smoothly without vibration or noise. That kind of polished execution is a good sign for day-to-day dependability in a used luxury sedan.
The ownership picture is also helped by complimentary scheduled maintenance for three years or 36,000 miles. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about making sure the car has been maintained carefully, since luxury features and electronics are doing a lot of the work here.
What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Genesis G90?
Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
You should still check the report carefully, then prioritize a thorough inspection of the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and comfort equipment, since this car’s appeal depends heavily on its luxury content. Pay close attention to wear on the rear-seat amenities and make sure the infotainment and smartphone integration work the way you expect.
Key things to evaluate:
- Trim level: The 3.5T is the value play, while the 3.5T E-SC adds the more powerful setup and the top-end luxury experience. The base trim already brings a lot of equipment, so the main question is whether you want the extra output and higher-end feel of the upper trim.
- Powertrain: The G90 uses a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6, and the upper trim adds an e-supercharged 48-volt mild hybrid system for more torque off the line. Both versions use an eight-speed automatic and all-wheel drive.
- Safety package: Standard equipment includes blind-spot monitoring, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance. The suite is thorough even before you move up trims.
- Infotainment: You get a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and over-the-air updates for the life of the car. Rear passengers also get an 8-inch touchscreen for seat, climate, shade, and lighting controls.
- Fuel efficiency: The less powerful engine returns 21 mpg combined (18 city/26 highway), while the top trim returns 20 mpg combined (17 city/24 highway).
Which 2023 Genesis G90 trim should I buy?
The 2023 Genesis G90 is offered in 2 trim levels: 3.5T and 3.5T E-SC.
Here's the short version:
- 3.5T: This is the best-value choice if you want the G90’s core luxury experience without paying for the extra output of the upper trim. It still gives you the big-screen tech, the rear-seat comfort focus, and the full standard safety suite, so you’re not giving up the essentials.
- 3.5T E-SC: Choose this if you want the most powerful version and the most relaxed, top-spec feel. It adds the e-supercharged mild-hybrid setup and is the trim to target if you want the flagship character this sedan is built around.
The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim just to get the core driver-assistance features.
Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Genesis G90?
This looks like a favorable time to shop, with a meaningful share of listings priced attractively and a relatively small pool of cars to compare.
- Deal availability: 42.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Inventory: There are 61 listings available.
- Clean inventory: 83.6% of listings are accident-free.
Is the 2023 Genesis G90 safe?
The 2023 Genesis G90 hasn’t been rated yet by IIHS or NHTSA.
It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.
Genesis makes advanced driver assistance standard, including blind-spot monitoring with audible and visual alerts, a blind-spot video feed in the gauge cluster, a head-up display warning, smart cruise control with stop-and-go, highway driving assist, remote parking assist, a 360-degree camera, lane-keeping assist, forward-collision warning and assist, and parking-collision avoidance. The system coverage is broad, and the safety tech is a major part of the car’s appeal.
Should I buy a 2023 Genesis G90 or consider a different year?
If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:
Choose the 2023 if:
- 42.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
- Accident-free inventory is solid at 83.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
- Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
- The 2023 is a major refresh with more luxury features than ever, including massaging seats all the way around, a rear reclining seat with a footrest, and a Bang & Olufsen stereo system.
The bottom line: The 2023 is the right pick if you want the refreshed G90’s stronger luxury presentation, especially for rear-seat comfort and overall value. If you’re shopping mainly on price, a nearby year may still make sense, but the 2023 is the one to target when you want the most compelling mix of equipment, comfort, and market availability.
