How much does the 2023 Ford Ranger cost?

There are 2,006 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 4.5/5 user rating points to strong owner satisfaction for this model year. The 2023 Ranger stands out as a practical midsize pickup with real truck capability, including the highest payload capacity of any midsize pickup truck at the time and a very competitive 7,500-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. It also offers rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, plus a choice of SuperCab or four-door SuperCrew body styles, so you can match it to work or everyday use. The 35.9% share of good or great deals suggests there are still worthwhile listings to find.

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 Ranger’s straightforward setup and work-truck focus support its reputation as a durable, practical pickup. Its turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder and 10-speed automatic are the only powertrain combination for the year, which keeps the formula simple. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is less about complexity and more about finding a truck that has been maintained well and not worked hard beyond its condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a vehicle history report and verify that the truck’s use matches the seller’s description, especially if it was used for towing or job-site duty. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on suspension, brakes, tires, and signs of heavy wear. Because the cabin and infotainment are dated by modern standards, make sure the interior condition and electronics meet your expectations before you commit.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find value.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,006 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.45% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 90.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $31,110, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $31,362 sits slightly below last year's $33,524.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. The Ranger’s strong utility and broad appeal should help it remain easy to shop in the used market. If you keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a reasonable path to resale later.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 90.2% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.45% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $38,925, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $31,362 average.
• It adds more engines, trims, and a more modern feel.

The bottom line: You should lean toward the 2023 if you want a capable midsize truck at a lower price and with plenty of inventory to compare. If you’re willing to spend more for broader choice and a newer-feeling package, the 2024 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2023 is the smarter buy; for shoppers prioritizing freshness and variety, the 2024 deserves a look.
