How much does the 2023 Ford Ranger cost?

Prices have softened 6.74% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,047 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Ford Ranger earns a 4.5/5 user rating, and its appeal centers on practical midsize pickup capability. The overview points to strong truck credentials, including the highest payload capacity in its class at the time and a very competitive 7,500-pound maximum towing capacity when properly equipped. It also offers rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive, plus a choice of SuperCab or SuperCrew body styles, so you can match it to work or everyday use. 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still opportunities to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Ford Ranger reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The overview describes the Ranger as a straightforward, work-ready midsize pickup with relatively simple hardware and a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder paired with a 10-speed automatic. That simplicity can be appealing if you want a truck focused on utility rather than complexity. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a truck used hard for towing or hauling may show wear faster than a lighter-duty vehicle.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Ford Ranger?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any listing you like, even if the market looks clean overall. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of hard use, especially if the truck was used for towing, hauling, or off-road driving. Focus on overall condition, because the Ranger’s appeal depends heavily on whether it has been maintained as a capable work truck or worn down by heavy use.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Ford Ranger?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you stay patient.

• Deal availability: 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,047 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.74% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $30,932, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Ford Ranger's resale value?

The current average of $30,932 sits slightly below last year's $33,167.

That softer pricing can help you buy in at a more favorable point, but it also means future resale gains may be more limited if the market stays soft. If you plan to sell later, the Ranger’s strong utility and broad appeal should help it remain marketable. A truck that still draws steady shopper interest tends to hold value better than one with narrower demand.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2023 Ford Ranger or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 35.5% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.74% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $38,408, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $30,932 average.
• It adds more engines, trims, and a more modern feel.

The 2023 makes the most sense if you want a capable midsize truck at a lower used price and can live with its older cabin and tech. If you want more refinement, more choice, and a newer-feeling truck, the 2024 is the better upgrade path. For price-sensitive buyers, the 2023 is the smarter value play.
