Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer a good car?

Yes — owners rate it 4.91/5, and the expert rating is 8.00/10. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Safety.

The main trade-offs are an irritating transmission and poor fuel economy, and advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, its entry-level-SUV mission fits shoppers who want useful space, straightforward tech, and an affordable small-SUV package.

With 36.2% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer reliable?

The owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with satisfaction tied to the Trailblazer’s comfort, features, and everyday usability. The expert review also emphasizes that it is a practical small SUV with a straightforward personality, which supports the case for long-term confidence.

Chevy’s three-year, 36,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty and five-year, 60,000-mile powertrain warranty add some reassurance for used buyers. Your main long-term risk is more about day-to-day refinement and feature content than major ownership drama.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean title alone does not tell you how the vehicle was maintained or repaired. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the transmission behavior, tire wear, and interior condition, since those are the kinds of details that can affect your ownership experience. Focus on whether the equipment level matches what you want, especially if you care about safety tech or convenience features.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LS is the most stripped-down version, while the LT adds more flexibility, and Activ and RS bring distinct styling and equipment themes. The lower trim can leave you without some of the more appealing features that make the Trailblazer feel more upscale.
• Powertrain: A 1.2-liter turbo-three is standard, while a 1.3-liter turbo-three is available with either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. Front-wheel-drive models use a CVT, while all-wheel-drive models use a nine-speed automatic.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control are optional, so check whether the listing includes them.
• Infotainment: The standard setup has a 7-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM, Bluetooth, and a Wi-Fi hotspot. An 8-inch touchscreen, navigation, a Bose audio system, rear-seat USB ports, and wireless phone charging are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: EPA ratings range from 30 mpg combined for the 1.2-liter FWD model to 31 mpg combined for the 1.3-liter FWD model and 28 mpg combined for the 1.3-liter AWD model.

Which 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer trim should I buy?

The 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer is offered in 4 trim levels: LS, LT, Activ, and RS.

Here's the short version:

• LS: This is the entry point, and it makes sense if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the most basic equipment. It is the trim most likely to feel sparse if you want more comfort, convenience, or safety content.
• LT: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it opens the door to more equipment and the available 1.3-liter engine and all-wheel drive. If you want a balanced Trailblazer without jumping to the pricier style-focused trims, this is the one to target.
• Activ: This trim adds the most rugged-looking design cues, standard roof rails, and gravel-road-tuned dampers. It suits you if you want a more distinctive appearance and a slightly more adventurous feel.
• RS: This trim leans into a sportier look with blacked-out trim, a mesh grille, and dual exhaust outlets. It is the right pick if style matters most and you want the most aggressive visual treatment.

The safety package is not standard across the lineup, so check carefully for optional driver-assistance equipment on any trim you consider.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop patiently and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 4,167 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.33% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 87.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,945, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer's resale value?

The current average of $21,030 sits slightly below last year's $22,214.

That softer pricing suggests the Trailblazer has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale stability if you buy at the right price. If you purchase near the lower end of the current range, you may reduce the amount of value left to lose over your ownership period.

The model’s broad appeal, practical size, and strong owner satisfaction should help keep demand steady. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.91/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer safe?

The Trailblazer was named a 2022 Top Safety Pick+ by IIHS, and it earns a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in the frontal and side crash-test categories and four stars in rollover testing.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Optional driver-assistance features include blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist, rear cross-traffic alert, and adaptive cruise control.

One caveat is that the standard halogen headlights were rated only Average by IIHS, while the optional LED headlights earned a Good score.

Should I buy a 2023 Chevrolet Trailblazer or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 36.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 87.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.33% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.91/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 keeps the Trailblazer’s stylish design, easy-to-use tech, and practical small-SUV formula.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,909, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $21,030 average.
• It adds a heated steering wheel and new paint choices.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $22,645, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $21,030 average.
• It improves passenger space, cargo capacity, and overall polish.

The bottom line: The 2023 is the right choice if you want a well-rounded Trailblazer with strong owner satisfaction and a healthier used-car market than the newer model year. If your priority is saving money, the 2022 is the better value play; if you want the most refined version, the 2024 is worth the extra spend.
