Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5 a good car?

Generally — the 2023 Cadillac CT5 earns a 4.4/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Technology and Safety.

Drivers consistently praise its performance, handling, and comfort, and many also like the smooth ride and strong acceleration. The CT5’s distinctive styling and impressive technology help it stand out, especially if you want a sedan with personality rather than something anonymous.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review points to a lack of refinement and a lack of isolation, and cargo space is limited. That makes it a better fit if you value road feel, design, and tech over quietness and maximum practicality.

The CT5’s overall appeal is strongest if you want a stylish midsize luxury sedan with a more engaging character than many rivals. Even so, the market still shows 31.3% good or great deals, which gives you room to shop carefully.

Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5 reliable?

Cadillac’s approach to technology and controls also supports day-to-day confidence, since the interface is laid out logically and the car’s systems are straightforward to use. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that the car’s refinement and isolation may not age as gracefully as its style and tech appeal.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Cadillac CT5?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 84.7% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any car you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection so you can check for wear, noise, and any signs that the car has been driven hard. Focus especially on overall condition, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well it has been maintained.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The CT5-V stands out with a more upscale and sporty presentation, including 19-inch wheels, a two-tone cabin, simulated carbon fiber trim, and available extras like a climate package and Super Cruise 1 Package. The base car is more basic in its safety equipment, so feature gaps matter if you want more driver assistance.
• Powertrain: The CT5-V uses a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 with 360 horsepower and 405 pound-feet of torque, paired with a 10-speed automatic and available all-wheel drive. It also offers drive modes including Tour, Sport, Track, My Mode, V-Mode, and Snow/Ice, plus active fuel management and an EPA fuel economy rating of 21 mpg in combined driving.
• Safety package: Every CT5 includes Cadillac Smart System with forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, a vibrating Safety Alert Seat, rear-seat reminder, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver monitoring technology. The CT5-V adds adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear braking, front parking sensors, a safe following distance indicator, and Intellibeam automatic high-beam headlights. The optional Super Cruise 1 Package adds Cadillac’s hands-free driving assistance technology with adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, lane-change systems, a driver monitoring camera, and a surround-view camera.
• Infotainment: The CT5-V includes a 10-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, SiriusXM 360L, OnStar and Cadillac Connected Access services with a Wi-Fi hotspot, wireless smartphone charging, Alexa Built-in, natural voice recognition, and a Bose 15-speaker premium audio system. Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Cadillac CT5?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you should shop with some patience and be ready to move when you find a strong listing.

• Deal availability: 31.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 883 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.09% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 84.7% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,813, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Cadillac CT5's resale value?

The current average of $34,841 sits slightly below last year's $36,329.

That softer pricing suggests the CT5 has already absorbed some depreciation, which can help future resale if you buy at the right number. If you shop near the lower end of the range, you reduce the amount of value left to lose over your ownership period.

The model’s strong technology and distinctive styling should help it stay appealing to used buyers who want something different from the usual luxury-sedan choices. Vehicles with solid owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.4/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Cadillac CT5 safe?

The 2023 CT5 earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Every 2023 CT5 has Cadillac Smart System, which includes forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, a vibrating Safety Alert Seat, a rear-seat reminder, rear parking sensors, and Teen Driver monitoring technology. The CT5-V adds adaptive cruise control, lane-departure warning, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, automatic rear braking, front parking sensors, a safe following distance indicator, and Intellibeam automatic high-beam headlights.

The optional Super Cruise 1 Package adds Cadillac’s hands-free driving assistance system with adaptive cruise control, lane-centering, lane-change capability, a driver monitoring camera, and a surround-view camera. One caveat is that the system still requires your attention and can be confused in some lane-marking situations, so you should not treat it as fully autonomous.

Should I buy a 2023 Cadillac CT5 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.09% compared with last year.

• The 2023 stands out for its stylish design, sharp handling, and impressive technology.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $38,187, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $34,841 average.
• It carries over unchanged.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2023 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong satisfaction and a healthy share of good deals. If you’re willing to pay more for a newer model year, the 2024 is the straightforward alternative, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2023.
