Used 2023 Buick Encore GX for Sale nearTrenton, NJ

How much does the 2023 Buick Encore GX cost?

Prices have softened 5.70% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,109 listings available, which suggests you have a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX a good car?

Yes — the 2023 Buick Encore GX earns a 4.7/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Drivers consistently praise its comfort, compact size, and good value for the money, and they also point to its safety features and handling as standout qualities. The Encore GX’s role as Buick’s entry-level crossover helps explain its appeal: it aims to give you a premium-feeling small SUV without moving into larger, pricier territory.

The trade-offs are clear, though. Expert testing calls out fairly pedestrian performance and poor fuel economy, so this is better suited to you if you care more about everyday ease than quick acceleration or efficiency.

With 32.9% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Drivers describe it as a dependable, trouble-free small SUV with good value, and they highlight comfort and safety features as reasons it feels easy to live with over time. Expert testing also points to a comfortable ride, quiet cabin, and Buick’s active noise cancellation, all of which support a calm ownership experience.

Buick’s warranty coverage is standard for the class, so long-term ownership risk is more about maintenance and condition than any obvious red flags in the model’s formula. For used buyers, that makes a careful history check and a thorough inspection especially important.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 Buick Encore GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still review the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full records check. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on brakes, tires, electronics, and signs of uneven wear. Since this model is meant to be an easygoing daily driver, condition matters more than chasing a bargain with hidden repair needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup includes Preferred, Select, and Essence, and the base setup leaves some desirable features for higher trims or option packages. You should compare equipment carefully if you want a more premium feel.
• Powertrain: The standard 1.2-liter turbocharged three-cylinder makes 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque, while the optional 1.3-liter turbo-three makes 155 hp and 174 lb-ft. Front-wheel drive is standard, and all-wheel drive is available with the 1.3-liter engine.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. Adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic park assist, a 360-degree camera system, and the rearview camera mirror are available in option packages.
• Infotainment: Every model gets an 8-inch touchscreen, a 4.2-inch driver information display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hotspot, SiriusXM satellite radio, and two front USB ports. Navigation, a head-up display, wireless phone charging, and an eight-speaker Bose audio system are optional.
• Fuel efficiency: The 1.2-liter FWD setup is rated at 29 mpg city and 31 mpg highway, while the 1.3-liter FWD version returns 30 mpg combined, 29 mpg city, and 32 mpg highway. AWD models with the 1.3-liter engine are rated at 27 mpg combined, 26 mpg city, and 29 mpg highway.

Which 2023 Buick Encore GX trim should I buy?

The 2023 Buick Encore GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Preferred, Select, Essence.

Here's the short version:

• Preferred: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the Encore GX’s core comfort and tech without paying for extras. It is the best-value starting point if you mainly want the model’s easygoing character and standard connectivity.
• Select: This is the trim to target if you want a better balance of equipment and price. It should give you more of the features that make the Encore GX feel premium without jumping all the way to the top trim.
• Essence: This is the most upscale choice, and the test vehicle showed the kind of equipment you’d expect at the top of the range, including leather upholstery, dual-zone climate control, and power-adjustable front seats. Choose this if you want the most comfort and convenience features.

Safety features such as adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic park assist, and the 360-degree camera system are available only in option packages.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 Buick Encore GX?

This looks like a moderate buyer’s market, so you can shop selectively and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,109 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.70% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 88.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $20,798, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 Buick Encore GX's resale value?

The current average of $20,873 sits slightly below last year's $22,134.

That decline suggests the market has softened, which can work against you if you plan to sell soon. On the other hand, it may help you buy at a more favorable point in the cycle if you’re shopping used now.

For a future seller, the key takeaway is that the Encore GX’s value is holding in a relatively narrow band rather than collapsing. That usually points to a model with steady demand, especially when buyers are drawn to comfort, convenience, and premium branding.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 Buick Encore GX safe?

The 2023 Buick Encore GX was an IIHS Top Safety Pick and earned five-star overall safety ratings from NHTSA, with five-star ratings in frontal and side crash tests and four stars in rollover.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assistance features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, automatic high beams, and Teen Driver. If you want more advanced protection, you’ll need to move into option packages for features like adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, automatic park assist, a 360-degree camera system, and the rearview camera mirror.

The main caveat is that child-seat anchor ease of use scored lower than the rest of the crash-test results, so families should pay close attention to installation and fit.

Should I buy a 2023 Buick Encore GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 32.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 88.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 5.70% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the comfortable, easy-to-use, premium-feeling formula while adding only a minor update for the year.

Consider the 2022 if:

• At $18,941, the 2022 costs less than the current year's $20,873 average.
• It offers a more established, style-forward small-SUV formula with standard modern connectivity and safety features.

Consider the 2024 if:

• At $21,964, the 2024 costs more than the current year's $20,873 average.
• It brings a refreshed look, a new touchscreen, and more trim choice.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, safety, and everyday usability, the 2023 is the sensible pick. If you’re especially price-sensitive, the 2022 can save you money, while the 2024 makes sense if you want the newer refresh and are willing to pay more.
