Buick stopped making cars a few years back to focus on SUVs, and at the top of its lineup, the Enclave offers seven seats, a premium interior, and a solid list of standard features.

What’s New for the 2023 Buick Enclave

The only change for 2023 comes to the Sport Touring Package, which gets different wheels. Buick offers three Enclave trims for 2023: Essence, Premium, and the ultra-plush Avenir configuration.

Design

The Buick Enclave is a straightforward three-row SUV, so there are no crazy scoops, spoilers, or giant grilles here. The SUV comes standard with 18-inch wheels, though Buick offers wheels in sizes up to 20 inches. LED headlights and daytime running lights come standard, and there’s a hands-free power lift gate in the rear.

Powertrain

All 2023 Enclaves come with a 3.6-liter V6 making 310 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and either front- or all-wheel drive (FWD or AWD). A stop-start system comes standard, and Buick said the Enclave delivers up to 21 mpg combined with FWD and 20 mpg combined with AWD.

Though it’s not sporty, the Enclave offers good acceleration and there’s never a situation where it feels underpowered or unprepared. Buick’s noise-canceling technology keeps the interior almost whisper quiet, and the Enclave offers a premium-quality ride in most scenarios.

Interior

The Enclave’s interior is nicely designed and offers good storage, but it’s not as nice as others in its price range. There are more hard plastics and cheap-feeling trim pieces than there should be, and the second-row seat only slides on the passenger side, making it difficult to access the third-row seats from the driver’s side. The third-row seat is decent for kids, but it won’t be the most accommodating for adults on anything but the shortest trips.

Technology

Buick includes an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard equipment on the 2023 Enclave. The interface is colorful and sharp and makes navigating the system a breeze while driving. Changing settings and moving through different menus is simple and straightforward, and the wireless Apple CarPlay connects quickly. Buick offers navigation in higher trims, and wireless charging is available.

Safety

Standard safety tech includes forward collision warnings, automatic emergency braking, safety alert seats, a rearview camera, front and rear parking assist, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, following-distance indicators, front pedestrian braking, and more. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) hasn’t rated the 2023 model yet, but the 2022 Enclave missed a Top Safety Pick award.

Pricing

As of this writing, pricing for the 2023 Buick Enclave starts at $46,195. The mid-range Premium trim starts at $53,430, and the top Avenir starts at $58,865. Buick charges extra for every color except for white, and buyers can upgrade with a number of packages, including a $1,450 Technology Package, a $1,555 Sound package and a $1,450 “Hit the Road” package that brings roof rack cross rails and side steps.
