How much does the 2023 BMW X7 cost?

Prices have softened 17.29% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,544 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of options to compare.

Is the 2023 BMW X7 a good car?

Yes — the 2023 BMW X7 earns a 4.5/5 user rating and a 6.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 8/10.

The 2023 X7 is a large luxury SUV that pairs strong performance with a calm, refined driving experience. It is aimed at you if you want a premium three-row SUV that feels relaxed and substantial on the road, and the refresh adds newer technology and updated styling.

The trade-offs are clear: the new front-end design may divide opinion, and the latest infotainment system can be unintuitive. The expert notes also point to a technology setup that can frustrate you when you need to access common functions quickly.

Good and great deals account for 40.7% of listings, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities in the market.

Is the 2023 BMW X7 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2023 X7 is presented as a well-built, premium SUV with a quiet cabin and a comfortable ride, and the expert notes say its safety features performed as they should during testing. That combination points to a vehicle that should feel solid and reassuring in daily use.

The performance side also supports confidence: the base inline-six is described as more than adequate for most drivers, while the V8 delivers potent acceleration. The expert also highlights the X7’s composed road manners and good blend of performance and comfort.

If you buy used, your main long-term ownership risk is more about complexity than basic durability, so you should pay close attention to how well the technology and convenience features operate.

What should I look for when buying a used 2023 BMW X7?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any candidate and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a luxury SUV with a lot of electronic features. Focus on the condition of the infotainment system, driver-assistance functions, and interior controls, since those are the areas most likely to affect your day-to-day experience.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Design Pure Excellence model uses chrome exterior trim, while the M Sport swaps in a darker finish. The interior is described as high-quality, but glossy wood and carbon-fiber trim can create harsh reflections, so you may prefer the matte or open-pore wood alternatives.
• Powertrain: The base model uses a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine with a 48-volt mild hybrid system, while the M60i upgrades to a 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with a similar hybrid setup. The six-cylinder is the value choice, and the V8 is the stronger performer.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane departure warning, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams. The M60i adds a surround-view camera system, and available features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward cross-traffic alerts, a semi-automated parking function, and highway driving assist.
• Infotainment: The latest iDrive system uses a curved display and has reduced the number of physical buttons. Common functions are handled through the screen, and voice commands can help, but the setup may take time to learn.
• Fuel efficiency: The base xDrive40i is estimated at 22 mpg combined, while the M60i is estimated at 18 mpg combined.

Which 2023 BMW X7 trim should I buy?

The 2023 BMW X7 is offered in 2 trim levels: xDrive40i and M60i.

Here's the short version:

• xDrive40i: This is the value leader in the lineup, with the 3.0-liter turbocharged inline six-cylinder engine and 48-volt mild hybrid system. It delivers strong enough performance for most drivers and is the better pick if you want the lower starting price and better fuel economy.
• M60i: This trim upgrades to the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 and brings much stronger acceleration, plus a surround-view camera system. It suits you if you want the most powerful version and are willing to pay more for it.

The M60i also opens the door to more available safety and convenience features, including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward cross-traffic alerts, a semi-automated parking function, and highway driving assist.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2023 BMW X7?

It looks like a buyer’s market for the 2023 BMW X7, with meaningful price softness and a decent amount of inventory to compare.

• Deal availability: 40.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,544 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.29% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $53,619, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2023 BMW X7's resale value?

The current average of $53,619 sits slightly below last year's $64,827.

That drop suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you as a buyer today but may also mean future resale gains are more limited if prices continue to normalize. If you plan to sell later, the best protection is buying well and keeping the vehicle in excellent condition.

The X7’s premium positioning and strong owner satisfaction should help it remain desirable, especially if you choose a well-equipped trim and maintain it carefully. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2023 BMW X7 safe?

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard safety features include frontal collision warning with automatic emergency braking, a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alerts, lane departure warning, adaptive headlights, front and rear parking sensors, and automatic high beams. The M60i trim adds a surround-view camera system, while available features include adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, forward cross-traffic alerts, a semi-automated parking function, and highway driving assist.

The expert notes say these systems performed as they should, with no annoying false alarms or unpredictable responses. Highway driving assist is a standout for reducing fatigue on longer trips.

Should I buy a 2023 BMW X7 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2023 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2023 if:

• 40.7% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 17.29% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2023 model brings a significant refresh with new front-end styling and the latest iDrive infotainment system.

The bottom line: If you want the refreshed X7 with updated styling and newer tech, the 2023 model is the right path. If you are especially price-sensitive, the softened market makes this year worth targeting, but you should spend time with the infotainment system before you commit.
