Used 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI for Sale nearPhiladelphia, PA

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI a good car?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI earns an expert rating of 7.3/10. The standout strength is Performance at 9/10.

It is aimed at you if you want a practical sedan that still feels entertaining behind the wheel, and the overview makes clear that it balances everyday usefulness with driving enjoyment. The expert review backs that up with a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, a manual transmission option, and chassis hardware tuned for sharp handling.

The trade-offs are just as clear: all-wheel drive is not available, and the car is described as poor value for money. That means you should view it as a driver-focused compact sedan first, not a bargain-first choice.

The market signal is moderate, with 33.3% of listings priced as good or great deals.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI reliable?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is presented as a well-rounded sport sedan that blends practicality with performance, and the expert review emphasizes that its powertrain is excellent and its dynamic behavior is calm, predictable, and easy to trust. The overview also points to a car that can handle daily life without giving up driving enjoyment.

The performance notes reinforce that impression: the engine is described as smooth, silent, and effortlessly swift, while the chassis hardware helps the car put power down effectively and maintain composure. On the ownership side, the cost-effectiveness commentary suggests you should expect a niche enthusiast car rather than a low-risk value pick.

For used buyers, the long-term risk is that this is still a performance-oriented sedan, so condition and maintenance history matter more than they would on a basic commuter car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper history review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the transmission, suspension, brakes, and any signs of hard use. Pay close attention to interior wear and infotainment behavior, since those are the kinds of details that can reveal how the car was treated.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The standard GLI setup includes perforated leather upholstery, a new steering wheel with touch-sensing buttons, and the Autobahn Package as standard equipment, but the manual gearbox can leave some driver-assistance functions unavailable.
• Powertrain: The GLI uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
• Safety package: IQ Drive adds forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist, though some functions are unavailable with the manual transmission.
• Infotainment: You get an 8-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, wireless charging, and a nine-speaker Beats Audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert review says it averaged 29.9 mpg on the testing loop and came close to an official 30 mpg combined estimate.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI is offered in 1 trim level: GLI.

Here's the short version:

The GLI is the one to buy if you want the full package without sorting through a long trim ladder. It already includes the Autobahn Package, perforated leather upholstery, the 8-inch touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, wireless charging, and the nine-speaker Beats Audio system. It also brings the performance hardware that defines the car, including the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, limited-slip differential, XDS, adaptive damping, and performance brakes.

If you want the manual transmission, this is the version that keeps the enthusiast character front and center. If you prefer the dual-clutch automatic, you gain convenience and access to Emergency Assist. The safety package is strong overall, but some IQ Drive functions are unavailable with the manual gearbox.

Volkswagen’s IQ Drive suite is standard and includes forward-collision warning, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist. Travel Assist combines adaptive cruise control with lane-centering, while Emergency Assist can bring the car to a stop if the driver becomes unresponsive, but it is only available with the dual-clutch automatic transmission.

One important caveat is that some IQ Drive functions are unavailable with the manual gearbox. The car also includes automatic post-collision braking, which is designed to reduce the risk of secondary impacts after a crash.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta GLI or consider a different year?
