Used 2022 Volkswagen Jetta for Sale near Arizona

How much does the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta cost?

Prices have softened 6.07% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,420 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta earns a 5/5 user rating and a 6.7/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 8/10.

Owners consistently praise its sleek design, smooth performance, and impressive fuel economy, along with a spacious, well-designed interior and modern technology. For you, that means the Jetta fits best if you want a comfortable, efficient compact sedan with a cabin that feels more upscale than basic.

The trade-offs are clear: performance is fairly pedestrian, and the technology can be unintuitive. Even so, the Jetta’s value-minded refresh makes it a sensible pick if you care more about everyday comfort and efficiency than excitement.

Good and great deals account for 33.2% of listings, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing prices.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a dependable-feeling car with strong fuel economy, comfortable seating, and a well-designed interior that many drivers feel good about living with over time. The expert review also emphasizes that the Jetta is built around a practical, value-focused formula, with a comfortable cockpit and a powertrain that works well for commuting.

Volkswagen also notes that the Jetta’s standard equipment and technology were upgraded for 2022, which can help reduce the feeling that you’re buying a stripped-down sedan. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is making sure the car’s condition and maintenance history match its mileage and price.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Jetta?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full inspection. Pay close attention to the cabin electronics, driver-assistance features, and overall condition, since the Jetta’s appeal depends heavily on its comfort and tech. If you’re comparing trims, make sure the equipment level matches what you expect for the price.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup was simplified to S, Sport, SE, and SEL, with the Sport replacing the outgoing R-Line and the SEL Premium dropped. The base trim is still well equipped, but higher trims add more premium tech and features.
• Powertrain: The Jetta uses a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 158 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, paired with either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic.
• Safety package: IQ.Drive is the umbrella driver-assistance suite. S and Sport include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian recognition. A Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist on automatic models, while SE and SEL get the full IQ.Drive safety list standard.
• Infotainment: S, Sport, and SE trims use a 6.5-inch MIB2 touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, Bluetooth, two USB-C ports, and an SD card slot. SEL upgrades to an 8-inch MIB3 system with navigation, wireless App-Connect, wireless charging, multi-phone pairing, and enhanced voice recognition.
• Fuel efficiency: The stick-shift Jetta is rated at 29 mpg city and 43 mpg highway. Automatic S and Sport models are rated at 31 mpg city and 41 mpg highway, while SE and SEL models are rated at 29 mpg city and 40 mpg highway.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Jetta trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta is offered in 4 trim levels: S, Sport, SE, and SEL.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, but it still gets the core Jetta formula and can be a smart value if you want the lowest-cost way into the lineup.
• Sport: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds a more appealing feature mix without jumping all the way to the top of the range.
• SE: This trim is the sweet spot if you want the full IQ.Drive safety suite standard and a more complete everyday setup.
• SEL: Choose this if you want the most advanced tech, including the upgraded digital cockpit and the 8-inch MIB3 infotainment system.

The full IQ.Drive safety list is standard on SE and SEL trims, while S and Sport get a smaller set of driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Volkswagen Jetta?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,420 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.07% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 80.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $17,563, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta's resale value?

The current average of $17,563 sits slightly below last year's $18,699.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable point if you plan to keep the car for a while. For a future seller, it also means resale value may be more sensitive to condition, mileage, and equipment level than to broad market momentum.

Because the Jetta is positioned as a value-focused compact sedan, well-kept examples with desirable features should hold buyer interest better than rougher or more basic ones. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Jetta safe?

The 2022 Volkswagen Jetta has yet to receive crash safety ratings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard IQ.Drive includes blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and forward-collision warning with automatic braking and pedestrian recognition on S and Sport trims. A Driver Assistance package adds adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, lane-keep assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist on automatic models, while SE and SEL get the full IQ.Drive safety list standard.

One caveat is that the system’s lane-centering behavior can need extra guidance on sweeping highway curves, so you should test it on roads similar to your commute if safety tech is a priority.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Jetta or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 33.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.07% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 refresh adds more standard features, upgraded technology, and a revised powertrain.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $19,509, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $17,563 average.
• It adds a more polished interior and stronger tech recommendations in higher trims.

The bottom line: If you want the better value today, the 2022 is the smarter starting point because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a meaningful refresh. If you’re willing to spend more for a newer model-year step-up, the 2023 is worth a look, but price-sensitive buyers should focus on the 2022 first.
