Used 2022 Volkswagen Arteon for Sale near Florida

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon a good car?

The 2022 Volkswagen Arteon earns an 8/10 expert rating, and it backs that up with strong marks for look and feel, form and function, and safety. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Form and function, and Safety.

It stands out as a rare, distinctive car with eye-catching design, surprising interior room, and cargo space, and it can make a compelling case against a typical midsize SUV if you want something more stylish. It is also described as fun to drive and comfortable, which makes it easy to live with every day.

The trade-offs are real, though: the transmission is quirky, and voice recognition is mediocre. Even so, if you want a practical family car with more personality than most, the Arteon makes a strong argument.

With 32.4% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Volkswagen Arteon reliable?

The 2022 Volkswagen Arteon is presented as a well-rounded, comfortable car with a strong mix of performance, space, and everyday usability. Its turbocharged engine and dual-clutch transmission give it a more engaging character, and the car is described as quiet and isolating at speed while still being capable in city driving.

The performance notes also point to a broad torque band, trustworthy handling, and faithful brakes, which support confidence in daily use. On the ownership side, the included maintenance coverage pays for scheduled maintenance for the first two years or 20,000 miles, which helps reduce early running costs.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that the quirky transmission and middling voice recognition can become everyday annoyances if the car has not been well cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Volkswagen Arteon?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the report carefully, because a clean history is only the starting point. Prioritize a thorough inspection of the transmission behavior, infotainment operation, and overall cabin condition, since those are the areas most likely to affect day-to-day satisfaction. It also makes sense to confirm that the features you want are actually present, because some of the Arteon’s best equipment is trim-dependent.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SE R-Line comes only with front-wheel drive, while the SEL R-Line and SEL Premium R-Line add standard 4Motion all-wheel drive. The top specification also brings a more premium cabin feel, and the base trim misses some of the higher-end equipment that helps the Arteon feel more upscale.
• Powertrain: The 2022 model uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 300 horsepower and 295 pound-feet of torque, paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The setup is quick and engaging, but the transmission can feel delayed or uneven at times.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and automatic post-collision braking. Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist are added on the SEL R-Line and SEL Premium R-Line.
• Infotainment: The Arteon includes a 10-inch Digital Cockpit Pro display and an 8-inch touchscreen, plus wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also offers connected services, SiriusXM 360L, and navigation, while voice recognition can be frustrating unless you add the right services.
• Fuel efficiency: The test vehicle averaged 24.5 mpg, and official EPA fuel economy ratings suggest 25 mpg in combined driving for a 4Motion model.

Which 2022 Volkswagen Arteon trim should I buy?

The 2022 Volkswagen Arteon is offered in 3 trim levels: SE R-Line, SEL R-Line, and SEL Premium R-Line.

Here's the short version:

• SE R-Line: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Arteon’s core style and driving character at the lowest price. It comes only with front-wheel drive, so it makes the most sense if you want the look and feel of the Arteon without paying for the extra hardware and equipment in the higher trims.
• SEL R-Line: This is the best-value trim if you want the Arteon to feel fully realized. It adds standard 4Motion all-wheel drive and the safety upgrades that include Lane Assist, Travel Assist, and Emergency Assist, making it the sweet spot for most shoppers.
• SEL Premium R-Line: Choose this one if you want the most upscale Arteon experience. It adds the premium audio setup and parking steering assistance, so it suits you best if comfort, convenience, and tech matter more than price.

The SEL R-Line and SEL Premium R-Line are the trims that get the adaptive LED headlights needed for the IIHS Top Safety Pick designation.

Should I buy a 2022 Volkswagen Arteon or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• It adds a stronger engine and more engaging driving character.

Consider the 2021 if:

• It emphasizes upgraded styling, interior finishes, connectivity, and driver assistance.

Consider the 2023 if:

• It leans harder into crossover-like practicality with roomy seating and available all-wheel drive.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the one to target if you want the Arteon at its most engaging and distinctive. If you are shopping with a tighter budget, the 2021 can still appeal for its upscale presentation, while the 2023 is worth a look if you want the same basic formula with a more crossover-like pitch.
