Used 2022 Toyota 4Runner for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2022 Toyota 4Runner cost?

Prices have softened 2.31% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,453 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Toyota 4Runner earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.00/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Form and function and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its reliability, comfort, ruggedness, and spacious interior. The review summary also points to strong off-road performance and a durable, go-anywhere character.

The trade-offs are clear: poor fuel economy and an outdated interior. It fits you best if you want a rugged SUV that can handle family duty and off-road use, rather than a polished daily driver.

With 35.2% of listings priced as good or great deals, the market gives you some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The review summary highlights reliability, and the expert evaluation says the 4Runner’s dated V6 is used because it is reliable and provides a decent jump off the line. That combination points to a vehicle built around durability and steady ownership rather than flash.

Toyota also backs it with a five-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranty. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic dependability and more about living with age-related refinement and efficiency compromises.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has seen trail use. Focus on overall condition, signs of hard use, and whether the equipment level matches what you want.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The SR5 includes push-button start, remote keyless entry, a power-sliding rear window, satellite radio, multiple USB ports, a WiFi hotspot, and an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Premium SR5 adds HD radio, heated front seats, synthetic leather upholstery, and power-adjustable front seats. The Trail Special Edition adds 17-inch dark gray alloy wheels, a unique monotone paint scheme, a Yakima LoadWarrior cargo basket, a sliding rear cargo deck with under-floor storage, a 40-quart premium accessory cooler, and all-weather floor mats. The TRD Sport adds 20-inch wheels, X-REAS performance suspension, a TRD hood scoop, black roof rails, sport exterior badging, a chrome-accented multi-information display, synthetic leather upholstery, and TRD lettering in the headrests. The TRD Off-Road adds four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential, beefed-up skid plates, crawl control, active traction control, and a terrain management system. The TRD Off-Road Premium adds synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and additional driver assistance features. The TRD Pro adds enhanced shock absorbers, a 15-speaker JBL premium stereo system, a surround-view camera system, an off-road camera system, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a moonroof. The Limited adds 20-inch wheels, front and rear parking sensors, heated and ventilated front seats, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and X-REAS sport suspension.
• Powertrain: Every trim uses a 4.0-liter V6 with 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque, paired with a five-speed automatic transmission. It is described as reliable, but also dated and underwhelming in most driving situations.
• Safety package: Toyota Safety Sense includes forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree surround-view parking camera system are not standard.
• Infotainment: The standard setup is an 8-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, Bluetooth, satellite radio, and multiple USB ports. You cannot upgrade to a larger screen, but you can add navigation, HD radio, and a 15-speaker JBL premium audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The 4Runner returns 16 mpg city, 19 highway, and 17 combined.

Which 2022 Toyota 4Runner trim should I buy?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner is offered in 6 trim levels: SR5, Trail Special Edition, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, TRD Pro, and Limited.

Here's the short version:

• SR5: This is the entry point and gives you the core 4Runner experience with the standard 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Toyota Safety Sense. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost path into the model and can live without the extra comfort and convenience features found higher up.
• Trail Special Edition: This trim adds a more adventure-focused setup with the cargo basket, sliding rear cargo deck, accessory cooler, and unique styling. It suits you if you want a distinctive 4Runner with practical gear for outdoor use.
• TRD Sport: This trim leans more road-oriented with X-REAS performance suspension and 20-inch wheels, plus a sportier appearance. It is a good fit if you want a more pavement-friendly 4Runner without moving all the way to the luxury-leaning Limited.
• TRD Off-Road: This is the best-value trim for buyers who care most about capability, because it adds four-wheel drive, a locking rear differential, skid plates, crawl control, active traction control, and a terrain management system. If off-road use matters most, this is the trim to target.
• TRD Pro: This is the most capable and most feature-rich off-road choice, with enhanced shock absorbers, a JBL premium stereo, surround-view and off-road cameras, dual-zone climate control, and a moonroof. Choose it if you want the most trail-ready setup and are willing to pay for it.
• Limited: This is the most comfort-focused trim, with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, parking sensors, and dual-zone climate control. It suits you if you want the 4Runner’s rugged platform with the most everyday refinement.

Toyota Safety Sense comes standard, but blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, and the surround-view camera system are still reserved for higher trims or added equipment.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Toyota 4Runner?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,453 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.31% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 77.8% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,207, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner's resale value?

The current average of $38,927 sits slightly below last year's $39,848.

That softer pricing can help you buy more carefully now, but it also suggests the model is holding value reasonably well rather than dropping sharply. For a future seller, that kind of gradual movement is usually preferable to a steep decline, especially in a vehicle with steady shopper interest.

The current market range also shows that well-kept examples still command meaningful money. If you maintain the truck well and keep mileage and condition in check, you should have a better shot at preserving value over time.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Toyota 4Runner safe?

The 2022 Toyota 4Runner earns four-star ratings in frontal and side-impact testing, and three-star ratings in rollover testing from NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Toyota Safety Sense includes forward automatic emergency braking, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, automatic high beams, and lane-departure warning. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree surround-view parking camera system are not standard.

The main safety caveat is the rollover result, which trails the stronger frontal and side-impact scores. If safety is a top priority, you should pay close attention to trim content and available driver-assistance equipment.

Should I buy a 2022 Toyota 4Runner or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 77.8% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 2.31% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It balances rugged capability with modern infotainment and standard safety tech.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,569, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,927 average.
• It emphasizes rugged utility, reliability, and resale value.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $43,208, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $38,927 average.
• It adds standard blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The bottom line: If you want the best mix of current pricing, strong owner satisfaction, and broad availability, the 2022 is the sensible pick. If you are more price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money while keeping the same rugged formula.
