Why it stands out
The 2022 Toyota 4Runner stands out in the crowded SUV market primarily due to its rugged off-road capability, which is a significant attraction for adventure-seeking drivers. Built on a strong truck-based platform shared with the Toyota Tacoma, the 4Runner is designed not just for urban commuting but also for tackling tough terrains and trails. It features a powerful 4.0-liter V6 engine, producing 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque, giving it the brawn required for off-road excursions.
Despite its strengths, the 4Runner does come with some downsides, such as a less refined driving experience on paved roads characterized by body roll and a relatively coarse ride. Its interior, while spacious, is noted as somewhat outdated compared to modern rivals, offering basic infotainment functions that can feel behind the times.
The vehicle also benefits from numerous safety technologies as part of the Toyota Safety Sense suite, ensuring modern drivers can feel confident on the road. For buyers who prioritize adventure and ruggedness over luxury and everyday comfort, the 2022 Toyota 4Runner is an appealing choice that remains true to its traditional SUV roots.

This is the best car ever made in my opinion. It drives well, is tough as nails, and is always ready for any adventure. We take it off-roading and it drives like a dream off-road. It also looks really cool, and I get many compliments when I am out in public. I hope to keep this car for 20-30 years, and with Toyota’s reputation, I think it will make it that long. You honestly cannot go wrong with this car, it’s the best!

The Toyota 4Runner Limited is an awesome vehicle. It has all the safety features you could want. It drives better than any other 4Runner I’ve had. I won’t be driving anything else ever. This is my fourth 4Runner.

This vehicle is fantastic! However, the TRD Pro is not for folks that want a luxurious SUV. This is a rugged SUV. It is spacious and the seats are super comfortable. Its a medium sized SUV that drives like a body on frame truck and can be legit used on trails. Now that it has the blind spot monitor and 360 birds eye view, as well as front and side view cameras, its got it all! Pedal Commander takes care of the sluggishness. ;)
