Used 2022 Subaru WRX for Sale nearAnn Arbor, MI

How much does the 2022 Subaru WRX cost?

Prices have softened 6.57% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,097 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of used WRX options to compare.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Subaru WRX earns a 4.9/5 user rating and a 6.8/10 expert rating. The model scores 8/10 across Look and feel and Technology.

Owners consistently praise its thrilling performance, sporty character, and strong value, especially if you want all-wheel-drive capability. They also highlight its driving sophistication and versatility for both daily commuting and more spirited use.

The trade-offs are clear: the expert review calls out poor fuel economy and notes that advanced safety features are not standard. Even so, the WRX fits you well if you want a performance sedan with everyday usability and all-weather traction.

With 34.4% of listings marked as good or great deals, the market still offers some room to shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.9/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a car that feels dependable, trouble-free, and well suited to long-term use, especially for shoppers who value all-wheel-drive confidence. The expert review also emphasizes that the WRX’s performance and practicality combination is a major part of its appeal, which supports the sense that it can be a car you can count on.

The review also notes that the platform is designed to absorb more energy in a crash than the previous architecture, which adds to its durability story. For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that a performance-focused car may have been driven hard, so condition matters more than mileage alone.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru WRX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the vehicle history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially on a performance sedan that may have seen enthusiastic use. Focus on overall condition, signs of modification, and whether the car has been maintained consistently.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base trim uses a more unusual dual 7-inch display setup, while premium-trim and higher models get the 11.6-inch tablet-style touchscreen. The base and Premium trims also miss out on blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.
• Powertrain: The WRX uses a 2.4-liter turbocharged boxer four-cylinder with standard all-wheel drive. You can choose a six-speed manual or a CVT, and the manual keeps continuous AWD split 50/50 front to rear.
• Safety package: CVT-equipped models come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic steering assist, and an electronic brake booster. The manual transmission does not get EyeSight.
• Infotainment: Premium-trim and higher models get an 11.6-inch touchscreen. Android Auto and Apple CarPlay are supported, and the system includes physical controls for climate, power, volume, tuning, and defrost functions.
• Fuel efficiency: Subaru says the WRX should return 19 miles per gallon city, 26 highway, and 22 combined.

Which 2022 Subaru WRX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Subaru WRX is offered in 4 trim levels: base, Premium, Limited, GT.

Here's the short version:

• base: This is the entry point if you want the WRX formula at the lowest cost, but you give up the larger 11.6-inch touchscreen and the extra driver-assistance features found higher up the range.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds the more impressive 11.6-inch touchscreen and brings in the stronger tech presentation without jumping to the top of the lineup.
• Limited: This trim is the better pick if you want standard blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert, since those features are not available on the base and Premium trims.
• GT: This is the top trim and the only one with the CVT, plus Recaro seats, electronically controlled dampers, and Drive Mode Select. It suits you best if you want the most feature-rich WRX and are comfortable skipping the manual.

The safety-package note is important here: EyeSight comes standard only on CVT-equipped models, while the Limited and GT add blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and rear cross-traffic alert.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Subaru WRX?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,097 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.1% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $25,496, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Subaru WRX's resale value?

The current average of $25,496 sits slightly below last year's $27,288.

That softer pricing suggests the WRX has already moved through some of its near-term depreciation, which can help future sellers if the market stays steady. If you buy well and keep the car in strong condition, you may be better positioned than someone who paid closer to the upper end of the range.

The current price spread also shows that buyers still have options, so resale will likely depend heavily on trim, condition, and how well the car has been maintained. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.9/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Subaru WRX safe?

The 2022 Subaru WRX earns a 5/10 safety score from our experts.

CVT-equipped models come standard with Subaru’s EyeSight suite, which includes automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, lane-tracing assist, automatic steering assist, and an electronic brake booster. That gives you a strong set of standard driver-assistance features if you choose the automatic.

The manual transmission does not get EyeSight, and blind-spot monitoring with lane-change assist and rear cross-traffic alert are limited to the Limited and GT trims. The review also notes that the Subaru Global Platform improves crash energy absorption, and the car includes seven airbags, including a driver’s-side knee airbag.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru WRX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.1% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 6.57% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.9/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 update sharpens the WRX with improved powertrain, suspension, and technology.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $22,509, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $25,496 average.
• It emphasizes driving enjoyment over refinement.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $27,623, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $25,496 average.
• It keeps the current WRX formula with no changes.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the best all-around path if you want the updated WRX formula, strong owner satisfaction, and a market with decent deal availability. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better price-first alternative, while the 2023 makes sense only if you want to pay more for the same basic package.
