Is the 2022 Subaru Legacy a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Subaru Legacy earns a 4.8/5 user rating, which points to strong owner satisfaction. Owners consistently praise its features, strong AWD performance, and impressive fuel economy. Is the 2022 Subaru Legacy reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback also highlights that the car feels dependable, with strong AWD performance and a generally trouble-free ownership experience. That kind of response suggests the Legacy can be a sensible choice if you want a sedan you can count on over time. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is buying a neglected example, so condition and maintenance history matter.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Subaru Legacy?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should prioritize a history report first, then confirm the car’s condition with a thorough inspection. Focus on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and any issues that could affect long-term reliability or comfort. Because this model is often chosen for its practical, all-weather appeal, you’ll want to make sure the specific car you buy still reflects that promise.

That price movement suggests the Legacy has softened, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to sell soon. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Subaru Legacy or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 34.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 80.9% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 8.75% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $19,622, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $20,649 average.
• It offers standard AWD and a practical, comfort-focused setup.

The bottom line: If you want the stronger overall market balance, the 2022 is the better primary target because it combines solid deal availability with strong owner satisfaction. If your top priority is spending less upfront, the 2021 is the better secondary path and still delivers the Legacy’s core strengths.
