How much does the 2022 RAM 1500 cost?

Prices have softened 7.51% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 9,575 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 RAM 1500 earns a 4.78/5 user rating and a 7.67/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Look and feel at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise the truck’s exceptional comfort, luxurious ride, beautiful interior, thoughtful features, and strong value for money. The truck also gets credit for performing well both on the road and off, which broadens its appeal if you want a pickup that feels more refined than work-focused.

The trade-offs are that advanced safety features are not standard, and the rear automatic braking system can be overly sensitive. For you, that means the RAM 1500 makes the most sense if you value comfort, style, and everyday livability more than a fully loaded safety suite right out of the gate.

Good and great deals account for 32.8% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 reliable?

Owners rate it 4.78/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a truck that feels dependable, trouble-free, and worth counting on over time, especially because buyers repeatedly highlight its comfort, value, and strong overall ownership experience. The expert evaluation also emphasizes the Ram’s relaxed driving character and strong all-around execution, which supports the sense that it is built for long-term use rather than short-term novelty.

The EcoDiesel’s fuel economy can be appealing, but its high upfront cost makes long-term ownership math more complicated. For used buyers, the main risk is less about the truck’s core appeal and more about choosing a well-maintained example with the right equipment and condition.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 RAM 1500?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on any truck you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize an inspection that checks the brakes, electronics, and any added equipment, since this model can be optioned in many different ways. Focus on condition, because the right trim and package mix can matter a lot more than mileage alone.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lower trims are more basic, while Big Horn and above add the next-generation Uconnect 5 system with an 8.4-inch or 12-inch touchscreen. Higher trims can also bring more upscale materials and equipment, while the base setup leaves more features off the table.
• Powertrain: A 3.6-liter V6 with eTorque is standard, a 5.7-liter V8 is available with or without eTorque, and the EcoDiesel turbocharged 3.0-liter diesel V6 is the efficiency-focused option. The diesel delivers strong torque and can be very capable, but it is the priciest engine choice.
• Safety package: Lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can add automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking assistance.
• Infotainment: Lower trims use an 8.4-inch touchscreen, while higher trims can get a 12-inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are included, along with Alexa Built-in, satellite radio, connected services, WiFi access, and available navigation.
• Fuel efficiency: The EcoDiesel is rated at 24 mpg in combined driving, and the test truck averaged 24.8 mpg on the evaluation loop.

Which 2022 RAM 1500 trim should I buy?

The 2022 RAM 1500 is offered in 7 trim levels: Tradesman, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Limited Longhorn, Limited, TRX.

Here's the short version:

• Tradesman: This is the most basic path into the lineup, so it makes sense if you want the lowest entry point and plan to add only the equipment you truly need. It is the trim where you’ll feel the biggest feature gap versus the better-equipped versions.
• Big Horn: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it brings the newer Uconnect 5 system and a more complete everyday feature set. If you want a balanced mix of price and usability, this is the trim to start with.
• Rebel: Choose this if you want a more rugged personality and a stronger off-road-leaning setup than the mainstream trims. It sits above the volume models and adds a more distinctive character.
• Laramie: This is the step-up choice if you want a more premium feel without jumping all the way to the top of the range. It suits buyers who care about comfort and tech but still want to keep spending in check.
• Limited Longhorn: This trim is for you if you want a more upscale, luxury-truck presentation with richer materials and a more distinctive cabin. It’s aimed at buyers who care as much about interior ambiance as capability.
• Limited: This is the most polished mainstream luxury choice in the lineup, with the richest equipment and the most upscale presentation in the test vehicle. If you want the most refined version without going to the TRX, this is the one to target.
• TRX: This is the high-performance halo model, built for buyers who want the most dramatic powertrain and the most aggressive personality in the lineup. It is the clear choice if performance is your priority.

Higher trims are available with the Advanced Safety Group and Rebel Safety Group packages, which add more driver-assistance features.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 RAM 1500?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 9,575 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.51% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 82.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $33,183, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 RAM 1500's resale value?

The current average of $33,183 sits slightly below last year's $35,878.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled enough to give you more negotiating room today than a year ago. If you buy well now, you may be starting from a more favorable cost basis than shoppers who paid closer to last year’s average.

For a future seller, the key question is whether the truck holds its appeal through comfort, condition, and equipment. Well-kept examples with the right trim and desirable features should remain easier to move than stripped or poorly maintained trucks.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.78/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 RAM 1500 safe?

The 2022 RAM 1500 earns a Top Safety Pick rating from IIHS when equipped with all of its driver aids, and a five-star overall rating from NHTSA, with four-star frontal-impact ratings for the driver and front passenger.

It earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

The lower trims include lane-departure warning, lane-keep assist, blind-spot monitoring with trailer coverage, and rear cross-traffic alert. Higher trims can be equipped with the Advanced Safety Group or Rebel Safety Group, which add automatic high beams, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control with stop-and-go, a head-up display, surround-view camera, rain-sensing wipers, and parking-assistance features.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, so you need to pay attention to trim and package content. The rear automatic braking system can also be overly sensitive in some situations, which is worth checking during a test drive.

Should I buy a 2022 RAM 1500 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 82.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.51% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.78/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It combines comfort, style, utility, and a relaxed driving character better than many rivals.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $30,328, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $33,183 average.
• It adds the TRX performance halo and a more dramatic personality.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $36,554, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $33,183 average.
• It leans more upscale while keeping the Ram’s refined ride and premium feel.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, comfort, and broad appeal, the 2022 is the smart default. If you are especially price-sensitive, the 2021 can save you money, while the 2023 makes sense if you want to spend more for a newer-feeling upscale alternative.
