Is the 2022 Porsche 911 a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Porsche 911 earns a 5/5 user rating and a 7.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel and Performance.

Owners consistently praise its exceptional performance, handling, and stylish design, along with the high-quality interior materials. The 911 also comes through as a car that still works for everyday use, which matters if you want a sports car that does not feel overly specialized.

The trade-offs are clear: cargo space is limited, and it is not a strong value play. Even so, the 911’s blend of approachable performance and daily drivability makes it a compelling choice if you want a luxury sports car that feels special without being difficult to live with.

The market also shows 31.4% good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive listings if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Porsche 911 reliable?

The expert review also emphasizes that the 911’s performance has been refined over generations, with improvements that make it more manageable and easier to use than earlier versions.

The 911’s well-developed engineering and everyday drivability support confidence for long-term ownership, but used buyers should still pay close attention to maintenance history and condition because this is a high-performance car.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Porsche 911?

Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.

You should still run a history report, verify service records, and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection from a Porsche-savvy technician. Focus on signs of wear that matter on a sports car: tire condition, brake life, suspension behavior, and any evidence of hard use.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base Carrera gives you the core 911 experience, including standard forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist, while the optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring.
• Powertrain: The 911 uses a rear-mounted horizontally opposed six-cylinder boxer engine, and the base Carrera’s 3.0-liter turbocharged version makes 379 horsepower. An eight-speed dual-clutch transmission is offered on almost all models, while a seven-speed manual is available on S and GTS models.
• Safety package: Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring.
• Infotainment: The touchscreen sits lower than many rivals, Apple CarPlay is wireless, and Android Auto still requires a USB cable. The base audio system may disappoint, so the optional Bose system is worth considering if sound quality matters to you.
• Fuel efficiency: The dual-clutch transmission can improve fuel efficiency, though no MPG figure is stated here.

Which 2022 Porsche 911 trim should I buy?

The 2022 Porsche 911 is offered in 10 trim levels: Carrera, Carrera 4, Carrera S, Carrera 4S, Carrera GTS, Turbo, Turbo S, GT3, GT3 Touring, GT3 RS.

Here's the short version:

• Carrera: This is the best-value starting point if you want the core 911 experience, with 379 horsepower, rear-wheel drive, and the standard safety features that include forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist.
• Carrera 4: Choose this if you want the same entry-level 911 formula with all-wheel drive, which adds traction and confidence without changing the car’s basic character.
• Carrera S: This is the smart step-up if you want more power, since output rises to 443 hp, and it is also one of the trims that can be paired with a manual transmission.
• Carrera 4S: Pick this if you want the stronger engine plus all-wheel drive, making it a good fit if you value extra traction and year-round usability.
• Carrera GTS: This is the sweet spot for buyers who want a more serious performance edge, with 473 hp, Sport drive modes, and a chassis setup that still remains easy to live with.
• Turbo: Move here if you want a major jump in performance and are willing to pay for it; this is where the lineup starts getting much more expensive.
• Turbo S: This is for buyers who want the highest level of straight-line performance in the regular road-going lineup, but it comes at a steep price.
• GT3: Choose this if you want the track-focused, naturally aspirated side of the 911 lineup and are willing to trade some everyday practicality for it.
• GT3 Touring: This suits buyers who want the GT3’s performance focus with a more restrained presentation.
• GT3 RS: This is the most specialized choice for buyers who want the most track-oriented version in the lineup.

The optional Premium package is the key safety-package upgrade to look for if you want adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Porsche 911?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you are patient.

• Deal availability: 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 916 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.33% year-over-year.
• Clean inventory: 93.9% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $212,354, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Porsche 911's resale value?

The current average of $217,291 sits slightly above last year's $212,345.

That upward move suggests the 2022 911 has held demand well, which is a positive sign if you plan to sell later. The fact that prices are above the prior-year average also indicates that buyers continue to place a premium on this model year’s mix of performance and everyday usability.

For a future seller, that means condition and documentation should matter a lot. A clean history, strong maintenance records, and well-kept cosmetics can help you stand out in a market where buyers are already willing to pay up for the right example.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Porsche 911 safe?

The Porsche 911 has not been evaluated by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), which isn’t unusual for high-end luxury vehicles.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking and lane-keep assist are standard on the base Carrera. The optional Premium package adds adaptive headlights, a surround-view camera system, and blind-spot monitoring. Other options include night vision and an integrated dashcam feature.

Compared with conventional sedans and SUVs, the 911 offers relatively few safety features, and that limited equipment list is part of the sports-car trade-off.

Should I buy a 2022 Porsche 911 or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 31.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is excellent at 93.9% — clean inventory, standard diligence applies.
• Price trend: Prices are up 2.33% year-over-year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 keeps the 911’s approachable performance and everyday drivability intact.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $220,375, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $217,291 average.
• It adds more variants, including the Carrera T, GT3 RS, Sport Classic, and Dakar.

The bottom line: If you want the better value proposition, the 2022 is the cleaner starting point because it already delivers the core 911 formula with strong owner satisfaction and solid market demand. If you are willing to pay more for a broader lineup and more specialized variants, the 2023 is the better path.
