Used 2022 Nissan Frontier for Sale nearAmarillo, TX

How much does the 2022 Nissan Frontier cost?

Prices have softened 7.20% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 2,375 listings available, which suggests you have a workable amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Frontier earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.3/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its design, comfort, roomy cabin, and powerful engine. The overview also points to a comfortable cabin, impressive technology, and real off-road capability, which makes it appealing if you want a midsize pickup that feels modern without giving up truck toughness.

The main trade-offs are heavy steering and poor fuel economy, and expert testing also notes that the steering can feel harder to manage around town. Even so, the truck’s strong value proposition and broad capability make it a compelling fit if you want comfort, tech, and utility in one package.

Good and great deals account for 35.4% of listings, which is a healthy sign for shoppers comparing options.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback describes the Frontier as a solid upgrade with a reputation for being reliable and trouble-free for many drivers, though some buyers still have mixed feelings about its long-term dependability compared with competitors. The expert review also emphasizes that the truck feels like a meaningful redesign with updated underpinnings and an enhanced powertrain, which supports confidence in everyday use.

Nissan’s maintenance-friendly ownership pitch is reinforced by the truck’s strong value positioning and broad standard equipment. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that reliability impressions are mixed, so a careful history check matters more than usual.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any candidate, even if the listing looks clean at first glance. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on steering feel, cabin condition, and signs of hard use, since this truck is often bought for work and recreation. It also makes sense to compare cab and bed configurations carefully so you get the layout that fits your needs.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lowest-level S trim gets an 8-inch touchscreen, while the SV also uses the 8-inch screen; the PRO-4X steps up to a 9-inch display and adds the off-road-ready hardware that helps define the truck’s character. The PRO-X keeps the styling cues but drops the locking differential and skid plates, so you should not assume every rugged-looking Frontier has the same capability.
• Powertrain: The Frontier uses a 3.8-liter V6 with a nine-speed automatic, and it delivers strong acceleration, highway passing power, and available rear-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Fuel economy is not a strength, and four-wheel-drive models are less efficient than rear-wheel-drive versions.
• Safety package: Nissan Safety Shield 360 includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.
• Infotainment: The lowest trims get an 8-inch touchscreen, while the PRO-4X gets a 9-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, but they require a wired connection, and wireless projection is not supported.
• Fuel efficiency: Rear-wheel-drive models are rated at 18 mpg city and 24 highway, while four-wheel-drive models are rated at 17 city and 22 highway. The combined fuel economy rating is 19 mpg.

Which 2022 Nissan Frontier trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier is offered in 4 trim levels: S, SV, PRO-X, PRO-4X.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, and it gives you the Frontier’s core redesign, standard safety tech, and an 8-inch touchscreen. It makes sense if you want the lowest-cost way into the new-generation truck.
• SV: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it keeps the updated cabin and tech while adding more everyday usability without pushing you into the pricier off-road models.
• PRO-X: Choose this if you like the rugged look of the off-road model but do not need four-wheel drive or the full trail hardware. It keeps the styling cues while dropping the locking differential and skid plates.
• PRO-4X: This is the trim to buy if you want the most capability, with hill-start assist, hill-descent control, an electronic locking rear differential, Bilstein shocks, skid plates, and the 9-inch touchscreen.

The Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Nissan Frontier?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 2,375 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 86.4% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $26,284, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Nissan Frontier's resale value?

The current average of $26,284 sits slightly below last year's $28,323.

That softer pricing trend suggests the Frontier has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help demand in the near term. For a future seller, it also means you may not see the same pricing strength that existed a year ago, especially if your truck has average mileage or visible wear.

On the other hand, the model’s strong value reputation and broad owner satisfaction can help support buyer interest over time. If you keep the truck clean, well-documented, and accident-free, you improve your odds of holding onto more of its value.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Nissan Frontier safe?

The 2022 Nissan Frontier has not been crash-tested yet by either IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 7/10 safety score from our experts.

Nissan Safety Shield 360 comes standard and includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a driver attention monitor, intelligent forward collision warning, trailer sway control, rear-door alert, and an easy-fill tire alert. Eight airbags also come standard, and the Technology Package adds blind-spot warning, rear cross traffic alert, rear automatic emergency braking, and adaptive cruise control.

Because crash-test results are not yet available, you should lean more heavily on the standard driver-assistance equipment and the vehicle history report when evaluating a used example.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Frontier or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.4% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 86.4% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.20% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a long-awaited redesign with a comfortable cabin, strong tech, and real off-road capability.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $31,639, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $26,284 average.
• It adds a few more standard features while staying familiar.

The bottom line: If you want the better value, the 2022 is the smarter buy because it combines a lower average price with strong owner satisfaction and a fresh redesign. If you want a newer truck and are willing to pay more, the 2023 is the cleaner alternative.
