Used 2022 Nissan Altima for Sale nearNew Haven, CT

How much does the 2022 Nissan Altima cost?

Prices have softened 11.48% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 4,281 listings available, which suggests you have a healthy amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Nissan Altima a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Nissan Altima earns a 4.8/5 user rating and a 7.5/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Safety at 9/10.

Owners consistently praise its performance, fuel economy, and spacious interior, and they also like the updated technology and convenience features such as remote start and heated seats. The Altima’s broad appeal comes from its flexibility, with two engines, front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, and five trim levels. The trade-offs are a base engine that feels underwhelming and a lack of hybrid efficiency, while the VC-Turbo engine cannot be paired with all-wheel drive. For you, that means the Altima makes the most sense if you want a comfortable, well-equipped midsize sedan with strong safety and tech rather than the most engaging powertrain in the class. Good and great deals account for 35.0% of listings, so there is still room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Nissan Altima reliable?

Owners rate it 4.8/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Reviewers describe the Altima as dependable, and they repeatedly point to its comfort, fuel economy, and well-liked features as reasons owners stick with it. The cabin and road manners also support a trouble-free feel, with the car delivering a composed ride and a quiet interior. Nissan’s dealer service reputation is another ownership plus, and the Altima’s overall package suggests solid day-to-day dependability for used buyers. For long-term ownership, your main risk is less about basic durability and more about choosing the right trim and powertrain for your needs.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Nissan Altima?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the engine, transmission behavior, and signs of uneven wear, especially if you are considering a higher-mileage example. Pay close attention to trim-specific equipment so you know whether the car has the features you expect.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The S trim is the most basic, while higher trims add nicer materials, a more premium feel, and more equipment; lower trims do not look and feel as nice.
• Powertrain: You get a 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 188 horsepower or a 2.0-liter VC-Turbo with 248 hp; the base engine can be paired with FWD or AWD on most trims, while the VC-Turbo is FWD only.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-departure warning, forward-collision warning, automatic high-beam headlights, driver-attention warning, Rear View Monitor, rear door alert, and hill-start assist. Starting with the SV trim, Safety Shield 360 adds rear automatic braking, blind-spot warning, rear cross-traffic warning, and a rear sonar system.
• Infotainment: All but the S get an 8-inch touchscreen, wired Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an advanced drive-assist display; starting with SL, you also get a nine-speaker Bose audio system, navigation, connected services, and remote engine start with intelligent climate control.
• Fuel efficiency: The Altima ranges from 32 mpg combined for the 2.5-liter FWD setup to 29 mpg combined for the VC-Turbo.

Which 2022 Nissan Altima trim should I buy?

The 2022 Nissan Altima is offered in 5 trim levels: S, SV, SR, SL, and Platinum.

Here's the short version:

• S: This is the entry point, so it makes sense if you want the lowest price and are comfortable with the most basic equipment; it is also the only trim that can get the Driver Assist package.
• SV: This is the best-value choice for many shoppers because it adds Safety Shield 360 and a more complete feature set without jumping too far up the price ladder.
• SR: Choose this if you want the sportier look and the available Midnight Edition package, which adds a more distinctive appearance and extra comfort touches.
• SL: This is the trim to target if you want a more upscale cabin, the Bose audio system, navigation, connected services, and remote engine start.
• Platinum: This is the most fully equipped version, and it makes the most sense if you want the top-end Altima experience with standard AWD.

The base S trim has the fewest standard driver-assistance features, while SV and above get Safety Shield 360.

What is the 2022 Nissan Altima's resale value?

The current average of $17,230 sits slightly below last year's $19,465.

That decline tells you the Altima has moved into a more buyer-friendly price zone, which can help you if you are shopping now but may pressure resale if you plan to sell soon. The current market suggests the car is still in demand, but not at the same level it was a year ago. For a future seller, that means condition, mileage, and trim choice will matter even more when it comes time to list the car.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.8/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Should I buy a 2022 Nissan Altima or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.0% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 76.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 11.48% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.8/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds broader trim and packaging flexibility, including the expanded Midnight Edition availability on the SR.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $16,142, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $17,230 average.
• It offers all-wheel drive and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $20,324, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $17,230 average.
• It emphasizes comfort, ease of use, and strong fuel economy.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, inventory, and feature flexibility, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 is the value play; if you want a newer-feeling ownership experience and can spend more, the 2023 is worth a look.
