How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.79% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,083 listings available, which gives you a meaningful amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — it earns 5/5 from users and 8.17/10 from our experts. The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The 2022 E-Class is aimed at you if you want a refined luxury car with a distinctive personality rather than a conventional sedan. Its appeal comes from the upscale presentation, the rare Cabriolet body style, and the way it carries forward the refreshed look and feel from the prior model year.

The market also shows 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 E-Class leans into comfort, style, and standard convenience features, and the expert notes reinforce that it remains a polished luxury car rather than a stripped-down entry model. The turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder lineup also keeps the car focused on mainstream luxury performance instead of chasing extreme output.

Its performance notes point to a robust, well-rounded powertrain setup, with the turbo-six and EQ Boost mild-hybrid system designed to improve both power delivery and efficiency. The cost-effectiveness notes also suggest you can tailor the car to your preferences, which helps ownership feel more personal.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that a highly optioned luxury convertible can be expensive to keep in top shape, so condition and maintenance history matter a lot.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should start with the history report, then prioritize a close inspection of the body, interior, and any convertible-specific components if you’re shopping the Cabriolet. Because this model can be heavily optioned, it’s also worth checking that the equipment on the car matches what you expect from the trim and package mix.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, with E350, E450, and AMG E53 variants mentioned in the expert material. The base E350 sedan is the most straightforward entry point, while the AMG E53 Cabriolet adds the most visual drama and performance character. If you want the best value, the E450 is the safer middle ground because it keeps the turbo-six and MBUX features without the highest sticker shock.
• Powertrain: The E350 uses a turbocharged four-cylinder, while the E450 uses a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. The AMG E53 version uses a more powerful version of that engine, with 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: The E-Class uses MBUX with two 12.3-inch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, WiFi service, and an augmented reality navigation overlay. A head-up display is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert material emphasizes the EQ Boost system’s efficiency benefits, but it does not state MPG or MPGe figures.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: E350, E450, AMG E53.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the entry point if you want the E-Class experience with the turbocharged four-cylinder and the core luxury features. It makes the most sense if you care more about getting into the model than chasing extra power.
• E450: This is the best-value choice because it adds the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost while staying below the AMG pricing and intensity. If you want the strongest balance of performance, refinement, and everyday usability, this is the trim to target.
• AMG E53: Choose this if you want the most performance-focused version in the lineup, along with the AMG-tuned chassis and more aggressive character. It suits you best if driving excitement matters more than cost.

Most other safety features are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package, so check whether a used example has it before you buy.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop with some leverage if you’re patient.

• Deal availability: 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,083 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.79% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,304, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $39,304 sits slightly below last year's $42,625.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means your resale outcome will depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than broad market appreciation.

Because the model still has strong appeal as a luxury car with a distinctive body style, well-kept examples should remain easier to market than ordinary used sedans. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It comes with standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, and rear cross-traffic alert. The E-Class Cabriolet also includes pop-up rollbars, and Mercedes Pre Safe plus Pre Safe Sound are standard as well.

The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus. That package is a meaningful upgrade if you want the fullest safety setup, and it’s especially worth checking on a used example.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.6% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.79% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 keeps the refreshed look and feel while adding standard automatic high-beam headlights and rear USB charging ports on coupe and convertible body styles.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,517, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,304 average.
• It offers four body styles, four engines, and a broad mix of luxury and performance choices.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with softer pricing, strong safety, and a distinctive luxury-coupe-or-convertible appeal, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter price-sensitive path.
