How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,129 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — it earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

The 2022 E-Class leans on its established strengths after a substantial refresh for the prior model year, so you’re getting a polished luxury experience rather than a major redesign. It stands out for its wide body-style variety, upscale cabin presentation, and useful updates like standard automatic high-beam headlights and rear USB charging ports in coupe and convertible models.

35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still worthwhile opportunities if you shop carefully.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The 2022 E-Class is described as a highly versatile luxury model with strong appeal across comfort, performance, and technology. Its turbocharged four-cylinder and six-cylinder powertrains, plus the model’s established luxury focus, point to a car built around refinement rather than complexity for its own sake. The expert notes also emphasize that the lineup continues to lean on proven strengths after the refresh.

The performance content highlights EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology, which uses a 48-volt electrical system and integrated starter generator to improve both power output and efficiency. The cost-effectiveness content also notes that a basic E450 can still deliver robust acceleration and the MBUX feature set while costing far less than a loaded version.

For used buyers, the main long-term ownership risk is that higher-spec versions can be expensive to maintain and repair if they’ve been heavily optioned or poorly cared for.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a pre-purchase inspection, especially if you’re considering a higher-spec or heavily optioned example. Focus on overall condition, because luxury features, convertible hardware, and advanced electronics can be costly if they’ve been neglected. It’s also smart to confirm that the equipment you want is actually present, since some desirable safety and convenience features are bundled into packages.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, with E350, E450, and AMG E53 variants mentioned. Base versions are more understated, while higher-spec models add the richer look and feel that make the E-Class stand out.
• Powertrain: The E350 uses a turbocharged four-cylinder, while the E450 uses a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. The AMG E53 uses a more powerful version of the E450’s engine.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: The E-Class uses MBUX with two 12.3-inch screens, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, WiFi service, and an augmented reality navigation overlay. A head-up display is also available.
• Fuel efficiency: EQ Boost is designed to improve both power output and efficiency.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: E350, E450, AMG E53.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the entry point, and it gives you the E-Class experience with a turbocharged four-cylinder. It makes the most sense if you want the badge, the luxury atmosphere, and a more approachable price.
• E450: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. You get stronger performance while still staying within the core E-Class luxury formula.
• AMG E53: This is the choice if you want the most performance-oriented version mentioned here. It adds the AMG-tuned engine, AMG Speedshift transmission, AMG Performance 4Matic+ AWD, and AMG-tuned suspension.

The Driver Assistance Package is a worthwhile safety upgrade if you find a car equipped with it.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so it pays to compare listings carefully.

• Deal availability: 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,129 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.6% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $38,945, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $38,945 sits slightly below last year's $42,255.

That price movement suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy at a more favorable entry point today. For a future seller, the softer current pricing means there may be less immediate upside unless the car is especially well kept or unusually well equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

It has standard forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The E-Class Cabriolet also includes pop-up rollbars for rollover protection, and Active Parking Assist plus a surround-view camera system are standard on the AMG E53.

Most other safety features are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package, including adaptive cruise control, Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus. If you want the fullest safety setup, look for a car with that package.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.3% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.6% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It keeps the refreshed E-Class formula while adding standard automatic high-beam headlights and rear USB charging ports in coupe and convertible models.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,249, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $38,945 average.
• It offers a wide range of personalities, with four body styles, four engines, and strong versatility.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with softer pricing, strong safety, and a well-equipped luxury experience, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the smarter price-sensitive alternative.
