How much does the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class cost?

Prices have softened 7.38% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,085 listings available, which gives you a solid pool of cars to compare.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class a good car?

Yes — the 5/5 user rating and 8.17/10 expert rating point to a strong overall package. The 2022 E-Class leans on its established strengths after a substantial refresh the year before, and it still offers a rare mix of body styles, including coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon. It also keeps the focus on luxury and polish rather than a major redesign, while the loss of the AMG E63 and E63 S narrows the performance range.

The standout strength is Safety at 10/10.

That combination of broad appeal and strong ratings is backed by 36.8% good or great deals in the market.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction. The 2022 E-Class builds on a substantial 2021 refresh, so you’re shopping a model year that continues with an established formula rather than a fresh redesign. The expert notes also point to a car that can be configured for comfort, performance, or efficiency, which suggests a mature platform with broad capability.

The performance content describes the E53’s EQ Boost mild-hybrid setup as using a 48-volt electrical system and an integrated starter generator to improve both power output and efficiency. On the ownership side, the cost-effectiveness content emphasizes that you can choose a simpler E450 and still get robust acceleration and the MBUX system, which can help keep long-term running costs more manageable.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that higher-spec versions can be expensive to own if they’ve been heavily optioned or poorly maintained.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because a clean listing percentage does not replace a proper records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on electronics, convertible-top operation if applicable, and the condition of any high-value options. It also makes sense to compare trim and equipment carefully, since the E-Class can vary a lot by configuration.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The lineup spans coupe, convertible, sedan, and station wagon body styles, and the base E350 sedan is the most modest expression of the car. Higher-spec versions add AMG styling, larger wheels, a convertible top, and a more dramatic luxury presentation, while the base E350 can feel more subdued.
• Powertrain: Sedans come with an E350 designation for the turbocharged four-cylinder, while E450 versions use a turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost mild-hybrid technology. AMG E53 models use a more powerful version of the E450’s engine, and the performance content highlights 429 horsepower and 384 pound-feet of torque for that setup.
• Safety package: Standard equipment includes forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Driver Assistance Package adds adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.
• Infotainment: The E-Class uses Mercedes-Benz User Experience with two 12.3-inch screens, including a touchscreen and digital instrument cluster. It supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and it also offers WiFi service and an augmented reality navigation overlay.
• Fuel efficiency: The performance content says EQ Boost improves both power output and efficiency, and the cost-effectiveness content notes that an E450 can deliver robust acceleration while staying less costly than a loaded AMG version.

Which 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class trim should I buy?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class is offered in 3 trim levels: E350, E450, AMG E53.

Here's the short version:

• E350: This is the most accessible choice if you want the E-Class experience with the turbocharged four-cylinder and the cleanest path into the lineup. It makes the most sense if you value the luxury feel and body-style variety more than outright performance.
• E450: This is the best-value trim because it adds the turbo 3.0-liter inline-six with EQ Boost, giving you stronger performance while staying below the AMG price jump. If you want the sweet spot between power and everyday usability, this is the one to target.
• AMG E53: Choose this if you want the most performance-focused version in the 2022 range, with the more powerful version of the E450’s engine, AMG tuning, and a more dramatic driving character. It suits you best if you care more about speed and presence than value.

The Driver Assistance Package is the key safety-package upgrade to look for if you want the fullest set of driver aids.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, with enough inventory to shop carefully and enough price softness to create opportunities.

• Deal availability: 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,085 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.38% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.3% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $39,166, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class's resale value?

The current average of $39,167 sits slightly below last year's $42,286.

That decline suggests the market has already adjusted downward, which can help you buy more confidently today. For a future seller, it also means resale value may depend heavily on condition, mileage, and equipment rather than just model-year freshness. Well-kept examples with desirable options should hold up better than heavily used or lightly equipped cars.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class safe?

The 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class earns Top Safety Pick+ recognition from IIHS.

It earns a 10/10 safety score from our experts.

The E-Class comes standard with forward collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, Mercedes Pre Safe, and Pre Safe Sound. The Cabriolet also adds pop-up rollbars for rollover protection, and Active Parking Assist plus a surround-view camera system are standard on the AMG E53. Most of the more advanced driver aids are bundled into the extra-cost Driver Assistance Package, including adaptive cruise control with Active Speed Limit Assist, Active Steering Assist, front automatic braking for cross traffic, Evasive Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, Active Blind Spot Assist, Active Emergency Stop Assist, and Pre Safe Plus.

Should I buy a 2022 Mercedes-Benz E-Class or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 36.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85.3% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 7.38% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 lineup keeps the post-refresh E-Class formula and adds standard automatic high-beam headlights across the range.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $36,737, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $39,167 average.
• It offers a wide range of personalities with four body styles, four engines, and strong customization.

The bottom line: If you want the newer year with softer pricing, a strong deal pool, and the latest 2022 updates, the 2022 is the better default choice. If your priority is saving money up front and you’re comfortable with the older model year’s broader configuration spread, the 2021 is the smarter price-sensitive alternative.
