How much does the 2022 Lexus IS cost?

Is the 2022 Lexus IS a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Lexus IS earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Technology at 10/10.

Owners consistently praise its luxurious feel, quiet ride, and reliable performance, and many also like the powerful V6 engine and available all-wheel drive. The expert review also highlights its easy-to-use technology and standard advanced safety features. On the trade-off side, it is not especially practical, with limited cargo space, and it can be noisy. It is best suited to you if you want a compact luxury sedan with personality and driving enjoyment rather than maximum space or bargain pricing. Good and great deals account for 35.8% of listings, so there is some room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The owner feedback points to a reliable, dependable sedan that feels trouble-free and worth counting on over time. The expert review also describes it as delivering comfort, quality, and dependability in daily driving, which reinforces that impression. Lexus also includes a free 10-year voice-command feature, which adds a small ownership perk. For used buyers, the main long-term risk is less about basic durability and more about whether the car has been maintained well enough to preserve its premium feel and performance.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus IS?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully, because accident-free status does not replace a full records review. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that focuses on the brakes, tires, suspension, and any signs of heavy city use. You should also pay close attention to cabin condition and infotainment operation, since this model’s appeal depends heavily on how well its premium features still work.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The Premium trim adds triple-beam headlights, a navigation system, a surround-view monitoring system, a 17-speaker Mark Levinson premium sound system, and a power rear window shade. That makes it the trim to target if you want the strongest mix of luxury and convenience features.
• Powertrain: The 5.0-liter V8 sends 472 hp and 395 lb-ft to the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission. It also uses driving modes including Eco, Normal, Sport S, Sport+, and Custom, and the expert review notes that response is strongest in the sportier settings.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models. It includes a wide range of driving-assistance, collision-warning, and collision-prevention technologies, plus adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance. The expert review notes that some functions can be overly aggressive in certain traffic and road situations.
• Infotainment: Standard equipment includes an 8-inch touchscreen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and SiriusXM satellite radio. The Premium trim adds a 10.3-inch touchscreen, navigation, and the 17-speaker Mark Levinson audio system.
• Fuel efficiency: The expert evaluation recorded 17.7 mpg during testing, and that fell short of the official 20 mpg combined rating.

Which 2022 Lexus IS trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus IS is offered in 1 trim level: IS 500 F Sport Performance.

Here's the short version:

The IS 500 F Sport Performance is the one to buy if you want the full V8 experience and the most distinctive character in the lineup. It adds the 5.0-liter V8, rear-wheel drive, a limited-slip differential, adaptive variable suspension, and the performance-focused hardware that makes this model stand out. The Premium trim is especially appealing because it adds the strongest convenience and luxury equipment, including navigation, surround-view monitoring, triple-beam headlights, and the Mark Levinson audio system. Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard, so you do not need to move up for the core safety package.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus IS?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 897 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.42% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $37,263, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus IS's resale value?

The current average of $37,519 sits slightly below last year's $38,062.

That softer pricing suggests the market has eased a bit, which can help you buy more confidently now. For a future seller, the current trend implies that resale value may remain under some pressure unless demand strengthens. Even so, the model’s strong owner satisfaction should help support interest from used-car shoppers over time. Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus IS safe?

The 2022 Lexus IS earns Top Safety Pick+ from IIHS and five-star ratings from NHTSA overall, with a four-star frontal-impact rating for the driver and front passenger and a five-star rollover rating.

It earns an 8/10 safety score from our experts.

Lexus Safety System+ 2.5 is standard on all 2022 IS models and brings a broad set of driver-assistance and collision-prevention features. The expert review highlights lane-departure warning with subtle steering-wheel vibration and adaptive cruise control with lane-centering assistance as useful features. It also notes some caveats: curve-speed reduction can react too aggressively, lane centering can be confused in some road situations, and low-speed automatic braking can be intrusive in heavy traffic.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus IS or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 1.42% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings a notable performance boost, including the debut of the IS 500 F Sport Performance and its V8-powered character.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $34,670, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $37,519 average.
• It introduced the fourth-generation IS with a sharper focus on enthusiast driving.

The bottom line: If you want the strongest performance story and the freshest used-market pricing context, the 2022 is the better pick. If your priority is spending less up front, the 2021 is the more budget-friendly route and still delivers the core IS personality.
