How much does the 2022 Lexus GX cost?

Prices have softened 4.83% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,258 listings available, which gives you a solid amount of inventory to compare.

Is the 2022 Lexus GX a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Lexus GX earns a 4.71/5 user rating and a 4.17/10 expert rating. The standout strength is Performance at 6/10.

Owners consistently praise its off-road capability, reliability, comfort, spacious interior, and stylish design. For you, that means this is a strong fit if you want a rugged luxury SUV that prioritizes towing and trail use over everyday polish. The market also shows 37.2% of listings as good or great deals, which supports a selective-shopping approach.

Is the 2022 Lexus GX reliable?

Owners rate it 4.71/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

User feedback repeatedly points to reliability, dependability, and a trouble-free ownership experience, alongside the SUV’s comfort and rugged character. The expert evaluation also describes Lexus’s reputation for bulletproof reliability, and the GX’s traditional body-on-frame setup reinforces its long-term, workhorse feel. Lexus also includes complimentary Safety Connect for three years, which adds some ownership convenience.

For used buyers, the main long-term risk is that age-related wear and outdated hardware can matter more than mileage alone, so condition should drive your decision.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Lexus GX?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a vehicle history report on any GX you’re considering, even if the listing looks clean. Prioritize a pre-purchase inspection that checks for signs of hard use, especially if the SUV may have been used for towing or off-road driving. Pay close attention to interior condition and technology operation, since owners commonly mention outdated tech and interior design.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The GX is available in Standard, Premium, and Luxury trim, and the base setup is light on the extra equipment that makes the higher trims more appealing.
• Powertrain: It uses a 4.6-liter V8 with 301 horsepower, 329 pound-feet of torque, a six-speed automatic, and full-time 4WD; it is tuned more for torque and towing than quick acceleration.
• Safety package: Lexus Safety System+ is standard and includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. Blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safety Connect are also included.
• Infotainment: The GX gets a 10.3-inch touchscreen with standard Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, navigation, and a WiFi hotspot, plus standard parking sensors.
• Fuel efficiency: The GX is described as having a standard unquenchable thirst for fuel, and the expert evaluation cites 16 mpg in combined driving.

Which 2022 Lexus GX trim should I buy?

The 2022 Lexus GX is offered in 3 trim levels: Standard, Premium, Luxury.

Here's the short version:

• Standard: This is the entry point, but it is best if you mainly want the GX’s core ruggedness and standard V8/4WD setup without paying for extra comfort or convenience features.
• Premium: This is the best-value trim for most shoppers because it adds more everyday usability and sits in the sweet spot between price and equipment.
• Luxury: Choose this if you want the most upscale GX experience, and it is also the only trim that can be paired with the Off-Road Package, which adds Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control, skid plates, improved drivetrain cooling, and extra cameras.

The safety package is standard across the lineup, so you do not need to move up a trim to get Lexus Safety System+.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Lexus GX?

This is a moderate market for selective buyers, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,258 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.83% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 81.5% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $46,968, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Lexus GX's resale value?

The current average of $46,968 sits slightly below last year's $49,350.

That decline suggests the GX has softened in the market, which can help you as a buyer today but may limit upside if you plan to resell soon. For a future seller, the key takeaway is that this model year is not appreciating, so condition and trim choice matter more if you want to protect value. Strong demand for rugged luxury SUVs can still support resale, especially when the vehicle is well maintained and cleanly documented.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.71/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Lexus GX safe?

The 2022 Lexus GX earns no crash-test ratings from IIHS or NHTSA.

It earns a 4/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard Lexus Safety System+ includes adaptive cruise control, forward-collision warning with pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, lane-departure warning, and automatic high-beam headlights. You also get blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and Safety Connect with automatic collision notification and emergency calling. The GX does not offer several newer driver-assistance features that many rivals provide, including lane-keeping assist, lane-centering assist, and active blind-spot intervention.

Should I buy a 2022 Lexus GX or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 37.2% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 81.5% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 4.83% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.71/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new 10.3-inch touchscreen with standard smartphone integration and parking sensors.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $41,614, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $46,968 average.
• It keeps the same rugged body-on-frame character with minor updates.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $55,008, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $46,968 average.
• It leans even more clearly into towing and off-road comfort.

The bottom line: If you want the best balance of price, satisfaction, and updated tech, the 2022 is the smart default. If your budget is tighter, the 2021 gives you the same basic formula for less money. If you want to spend more for a newer example, the 2023 is the pricier path, but it does not fundamentally change the GX’s old-school mission.
