Used 2022 Land Rover Defender for Sale nearColorado Springs, CO

How much does the 2022 Land Rover Defender cost?

Prices have softened 14.55% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 1,265 listings available, which gives you a decent amount of inventory to compare before you buy.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender a good car?

Yes — the 2022 Land Rover Defender earns a 5/5 user rating and an 8/10 expert rating. The model scores 9/10 across Look and feel, Performance, and Form and function.

It stands out by blending traditional off-road character with modern tech and road manners, and it gives you a choice of two-door 90 and four-door 110 body styles. That makes it appealing whether you want a more compact setup or a more practical one.

The main trade-offs are a sluggish touchscreen response and advanced safety features that are not standard. Even so, the Defender’s stylish design, multiple body styles, and great ride quality make it a strong fit if you want rugged capability without giving up everyday comfort.

35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals, which suggests there are still some attractive opportunities in the market.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender reliable?

Owners rate it 5/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

The Defender’s appeal comes from its rugged construction, standard four-wheel drive, and off-road hardware that includes a two-speed transfer case. Its powertrains are described as refined and unintrusive in the lower versions, while the V8 adds serious performance without changing the model’s core identity.

For ownership, the biggest risk is that this is still a complex luxury SUV with poor fuel economy in some versions, so running costs can climb if you choose a higher-output model.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still check the history report carefully and prioritize a thorough pre-purchase inspection, especially if the truck has been used off-road. Focus on overall condition, because the Defender’s appeal depends on both its rugged hardware and its interior and tech features working as intended.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base model is the most stripped-down version, while higher trims add more equipment and a more upscale feel. The base screen is not especially small, but the richer trims bring more of the Defender’s convenience and luxury content.
• Powertrain: You can choose a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder, a 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six mild-hybrid, or a 5.0-liter V8. The four-cylinder and six-cylinder are adequate, while the V8 delivers the strongest performance and the most dramatic driving character.
• Safety package: Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter. Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control are optional, so check carefully for those features on the specific truck you’re considering.
• Infotainment: The standard Pivi Pro system includes a 10-inch central touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto. A 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster is standard on every trim level except the base model, and an 11.4-inch touchscreen is newly available for 2022.
• Fuel efficiency: The base four-cylinder Defender 90 is rated at 19 mpg combined, while the six-cylinder mild hybrid is also rated at 19 mpg combined. The V8 drops to 16 mpg combined in the Defender 90 and 14 mpg city in the 110.

Which 2022 Land Rover Defender trim should I buy?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender is offered in 5 trim levels: Defender 90, Defender 110, X-Dynamic SE, X-Dynamic HSE, and V8.

Here's the short version:

• Defender 90: This is the entry point if you want the Defender’s core ruggedness at the lowest price. It gives you the standard four-wheel-drive hardware and the basic Defender experience, but it is the least equipped version.
• Defender 110: Choose this if you want the more practical body style and a better everyday fit for passengers and cargo. It keeps the Defender’s off-road character while making the SUV easier to live with.
• X-Dynamic SE: This is the first trim where the lineup starts to feel more complete, and it is a smart step up if you want more equipment without jumping to the top end.
• X-Dynamic HSE: This is the better choice if you want a more upscale Defender with more of the comfort and convenience content that suits the model’s luxury side.
• V8: This is the performance pick, with the strongest engine and the most dramatic acceleration. It suits you if you want maximum power and are willing to accept the higher running costs.

Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control remain optional, so check the exact equipment list on any trim you’re considering.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Land Rover Defender?

This is a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 1,265 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.55% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 89.2% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $43,892, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Land Rover Defender's resale value?

The current average of $43,892 sits slightly below last year's $51,367.

That price movement suggests the market has cooled, which can help you buy more selectively now. For a future seller, it also means you should pay close attention to trim, condition, and equipment, because well-kept examples are more likely to stand out.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 5/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Land Rover Defender safe?

The 2022 Land Rover Defender earns a 6/10 safety score from our experts.

Standard driver-assist tech includes lane-keep assist, automatic emergency braking, and traffic-sign recognition with speed-limit adapter. Blind-spot monitoring and adaptive cruise control are optional, so you should confirm whether a used example has those features before you buy.

A key caveat is that advanced safety features are not standard, which means some trucks will be less equipped than you might expect for a luxury SUV.

Should I buy a 2022 Land Rover Defender or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 35.9% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 89.2% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 14.55% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 5/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• It adds a new optional 11.4-inch touchscreen, standard wireless phone charging, and an expanded trim lineup.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $39,887, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $43,892 average.
• It emphasizes serious off-road ability with a more basic, adventure-focused setup.

Consider the 2023 if:

• At $51,875, the 2023 costs more than the current year's $43,892 average.
• It adds the Defender 130, which increases practicality and broadens the lineup.

The bottom line: The 2022 is the sweet spot if you want the updated tech and expanded trim range without paying 2023 prices. If your priority is saving money, the 2021 is the better value play; if you want more practicality and can spend more, the 2023 is the upgrade path.
