How much does the 2022 Kia Sorento cost?

Prices have softened 12.90% compared to this time last year, making it a favorable time to shop this model year.

There are 3,249 listings available, which suggests solid inventory for shoppers comparing prices and trims.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento a good car?

Yes — it earns a 4.7/5 user rating and an 8.7/10 expert rating. The model scores 10/10 across Look and feel and Cost effectiveness.

Owners consistently praise its modern design, spacious interior, and family-friendly features. The Sorento also gets credit for strong performance and fuel economy in owner feedback, while the expert review highlights its stylish design and great warranty.

The trade-offs are clear: the base engine is underwhelming, the third row is cramped, and the voice recognition system is poor. That makes it a better fit if you want a well-equipped family crossover with style and value rather than maximum third-row usefulness.

With 32.8% of listings marked as good or great deals, you have room to shop selectively.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento reliable?

Owners rate it 4.7/5, a strong signal of long-term satisfaction.

Owner feedback points to a dependable, trouble-free ownership experience, with praise centered on the Sorento’s modern design and family-friendly usability. The expert review also emphasizes its generous warranty and solid build quality, both of which support confidence in long-term ownership.

The Sorento’s warranty and strong satisfaction scores help reduce ownership risk, but you should still prioritize maintenance records and condition on any used example.

What should I look for when buying a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.

You should still run a history report on every candidate and focus your inspection on signs of prior damage, uneven wear, and interior condition. Pay extra attention to how the cabin has held up, since this is a family SUV that may have seen heavy daily use. If you’re comparing trims, make sure the equipment level matches what you expect before you commit.

Key things to evaluate:

• Trim level: The base LX trim is the least equipped, while higher trims add more upscale cabin materials and features; the SX Prestige stands out with a more comfortable driver’s seat and heated second-row captain’s chairs.
• Powertrain: The standard 191-horsepower 2.5-liter four-cylinder is underwhelming, while the turbocharged 2.5-liter, hybrid, and plug-in hybrid options are the stronger choices.
• Safety package: Kia Drive Wise is standard, and the package varies by trim level; the Blind View Monitor is exclusive to the SX Prestige X-Line.
• Infotainment: The base LX keeps an 8-inch touchscreen, while other trims get a 10.25-inch touchscreen with navigation, satellite radio, Kia Connect services, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
• Fuel efficiency: The hybrid is rated at between 35 mpg and 37 mpg in combined driving, and the plug-in hybrid returns 34 mpg in combined driving after 32 miles of electric-only range.

Which 2022 Kia Sorento trim should I buy?

The 2022 Kia Sorento is offered in 4 trim levels: LX, S, EX, SX Prestige.

Here's the short version:

• LX: This is the entry point, and it makes sense only if you want the lowest starting price and can live with the least equipment.
• S: This is the best-value trim for many shoppers because it adds more everyday usability without pushing you into the highest price brackets.
• EX: This is the smart step-up if you want the stronger turbocharged engine and more comfort and convenience features.
• SX Prestige: This is the pick if you want the most upscale Sorento, including the most premium cabin and the richest feature set.

Kia Drive Wise is standard across the lineup, but the contents vary by trim level, and some of the most advanced features are reserved for higher trims.

Is now a good time to buy a used 2022 Kia Sorento?

This looks like a moderate, selective buyer’s market, so you can shop carefully and still find worthwhile listings.

• Deal availability: 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Inventory: There are 3,249 listings available.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.
• Clean inventory: 85.0% of listings are accident-free.

If you find a listing below $23,059, that's toward the low end of the year-round range and worth acting on quickly.

What is the 2022 Kia Sorento's resale value?

The current average of $23,059 sits slightly below last year's $26,473.

That price movement suggests the Sorento has become more accessible to used buyers, which can help demand stay healthy in the near term. For a future seller, the softer market means you may need to price competitively to stand out. On the other hand, the Sorento’s broad appeal as a stylish family SUV can help support resale interest if your vehicle is well maintained and well equipped.

Vehicles with strong owner satisfaction ratings, like this model year's 4.7/5, tend to retain buyer demand, which supports resale value over time.

Is the 2022 Kia Sorento safe?

The 2022 Sorento earns a Top Safety Pick from IIHS and a four-star overall crash-test rating from NHTSA.

It earns a 9/10 safety score from our experts.

Kia Drive Wise is standard, and the package includes features such as rear-seat reminder, Junction Assist, Intelligent Speed Limit Assist, Highway Driving Assist, and blind-spot monitoring. The Blind View Monitor is exclusive to the SX Prestige X-Line, and the safety package varies by trim level.

The main caveat is that the headlights on all but the SX and SX Prestige trims receive the lower IIHS rating, while those top trims get the highest rating.

Should I buy a 2022 Kia Sorento or consider a different year?

If you're weighing the 2022 against nearby model years, here's how to think about it:

Choose the 2022 if:

• 32.8% of listings are priced as good or great deals.
• Accident-free inventory is solid at 85% — always verify the vehicle history report.
• Price trend: Prices have softened 12.90% compared with last year.
• Owners rate it 4.7/5 — a strong satisfaction signal.
• The 2022 brings meaningful updates, including a standard 10.25-inch infotainment system on most trims and expanded X-Line availability.

Consider the 2021 if:

• At $20,075, the 2021 costs less than the current year's $23,059 average.
• It offers a redesigned three-row SUV with strong all-around appeal and standard advanced safety features.

The bottom line: If you want the better-equipped and more updated Sorento, the 2022 is the stronger choice. If your priority is saving money and you’re comfortable giving up some of the 2022 updates, the 2021 can still make sense as a lower-cost alternative.
